Rage at boiling point after farm murder

2012-06-22 09:19

Johannesburg - The son of a murdered farmer has challenged ANC Youth League statements that land should be taken without compensation, according to a report on Friday.

Hanno van Rensburg, son of the murdered farmer, Johan van Rensburg, 77, blamed the ANC Youth League for the crime in which his mother Gloudien, 65, was also critically wounded, reported Beeld newspaper.

"The ANC Youth League say they want to take our land by violent means and declare war. If they want war, they must come. I'll fucking shoot them. My family's blood has been spilt on this land."

Ronald Lamola, deputy president of the ANC Youth League, called on Tuesday night at the Durban University of Technology for the expropriation of land without compensation.

"We need an act as forceful as war to bring it back to the Africans," Lomola said.

Henry Geldenhuys, deputy president of the Transvaal Agricultural Union, said Lamola was inciting violence.

"There's no option left for the farmers but to prepare for a war."

On Thursday, Hanno van Rensburg cleaned the blood spattered bedroom where his parents were shot.

"Why didn't they just take stuff and leave my parents alone? Only guns were stolen during the attack. I want to say to the murderers: Fuck you. I want to get hold of them, I want to shoot them."

Oh boy here we go :-( ANCYL are you happy now?

      arthur.hugh - 2012-06-22 09:40

You and your ANCYL twatheads think you must be given it or you will kill for it...Really... Bring it on tough guys, you may be trying to start a fight that you cannot win..!!! You Morons make me sick to my stomach!!

      nick.hill.52493 - 2012-06-22 09:55

Gigo .... troll alert ... even his Facebook is a cowardly hideway !!!

      arthur.hugh - 2012-06-22 10:02

Gigo nothing belongs to you unless you earn it. You're exactly the type of moron that all these farmers want to shoot. Go back to your pigpen fool, you're just causing more anger and hatred with your idiotic comments.

      Bryan - 2012-06-22 10:02

No Gigo, my forefathers built this country into what it is... You are your ilk are busy destroying it....Pig!!!

      clive.wannenburg - 2012-06-22 10:22

Gigo wake up two wrongs don’t make a right and be very careful what you wish for a focused and nothing to lose minority is a very dangerous combination with the military know how. I personally hope common sense prevails and true South Africans stand up to build a nation instead of destroying one.

  • Grant - 2012-06-22 09:30

I have to agree with the guy! Just put up a sign "Trespassers will be shot DEAD!", and then follow it up!

  • Jayson Wolhuter - 2012-06-22 09:31

They think they can just murder without consequence. If they want a war, the farmers will give it to them. If only the country's leaders could stop giving the money away to the IMF and stop spending it on parties, they could purchase the farms for black africans. The ANCYL says the africans should take the farms. i am white and I am african. Deal with it

      Kenna - 2012-06-22 10:18

Kanyisa. I am white. I was born in Africa. How on earth am I not an African?

      Moi - 2012-06-22 10:23

Kanyisa - I AM AFRICAN. Born and bred. Nothing you say is going to change that.

      Chez - 2012-06-22 10:26

@Kanyisa. You go do rude things to yourself ok! I am white, I am African. If you don't like it, go back to MID Africa where you come from! The San are the only ORIGINAL people from this area. Your close-minded attitude is not helping here. I was born here, as were my parents and there parents before them. I have no connection with Europe and have never been there. I am proud of MY country, the one I happily share with you. So pi*s off with your racist drivle.

  • gee.raaf - 2012-06-22 09:31

Ancyl can try to take land without compensation, they'll be shot to death in the process. So go ahead! We will not go down without a fight!

  • johann.vanhuyssteen - 2012-06-22 09:32

The emotions in this country will boil over soon. I am turning 50 next year and it seems that in my lifetime this country will be at war. Corruption, useless politicians and government, and unemployment will be the drivers.

  • richard.hipkin - 2012-06-22 09:33

Don't be foolish, any white male over the age of 40-45 wil tell you what war is like.. Besides, any retaliatory attack will be seen as racist, not because of fear or frustration.. And then you will lose all sympathy with the bleeding liberals.

  • Chumscrubber1 - 2012-06-22 09:36

It's hard to believe this evil regime has allowed this country to slip into such an abyss of racial hatred. The ANC, and all of it's allies, should hang it's head in shame for inciting such hatred, it is going to backfire on all people of this country, regardless of race. There will be no winners, but I do believe we are slipping towards an armed conflict in this country.

      johleneh - 2012-06-22 10:18

I agree with your opinion Chum... its scary and really sad. When I was 14 I read War & Remembrance and will always carry the last passage of the book with me.. (not word by word but remembered from my heart) this had to be written, so that our children's children may read it and remember the war and what it did to all of us, so it may never happen again... Sad that we cannot learn from our father's mistakes but rather perpetuate them until they rule us and destroy the lives of our children and their children...

Aggression breeds aggression. Once you have had your shoot out, where to from there? Or do you all end up dead? Great solution.

      inxsive - 2012-06-22 09:50

Somebody has to be the winner of a conflict.

      arthur.adams.988 - 2012-06-22 10:07

@inxsive, you right there will be a winner the pupet masters , the ones at the top who only want power and money. In all conflicts the normal person on both sides are the biggest losers.

      arthur.adams.988 - 2012-06-22 10:53

@Boy , the war you referring to illustrates my point perfectly. the American slaves were already declared free in most northern states but some southern rich slave owners didn’t want to change and in order to protect their wealth , they started the union states and started the war. Now when you look at it, who were the people that paid the most, it was normal people that died on the field of battle while the rich slave owners lived normal lives.

  • nmateke - 2012-06-22 09:46

Ronald Lamola, need to be challenged in court. we cannot create this kind of an environment in SA again, we all need to strive as to create a common understanding. I am sincerely damaged by what happen to the Rensburg family. With the crime rate spiking in SA, please lets not all relate them to race, as we all affected by it.... lets cool down even though it could be hard

      foxiloxi - 2012-06-22 09:48

I agree, something needs to be done at the highest level and very urgently!! It is getting to the point of no return!!

  • kmphasha - 2012-06-22 09:46

My deeply heart warmth sincere condolences to van Rensburg family , However it is wrong to link this killing to ANCYL statements , we should allow authorities to do their investigative job before we make any conclusions. The other problem is that farmers to don’t provide solutions to question of land distribution, They had more than 17 years to rectify their mistakes but what did they do , absolutely nothing. Romantic ( willing buyer willing seller policy) approach to this matter is not working we need new strategy to this matter. - 2012-06-22 09:49

Look at DA policies in Western Cape. They are working. Zimbabwe style land distribution will never work, farms will be stripped and desecrated, you will remain poor for the rest of your lives. Another African story

      smili.fication - 2012-06-22 09:53

And we don't know if they are working or not... the goverment does not distinguish the difference between black and white owned farms in their database.

      john.doeslough - 2012-06-22 09:55

"They had more than 17 years to rectify their mistakes but what did they do , absolutely nothing." What mistakes are these I wonder? Choosing to work their fields so they can produce food for the nation? Yes, what a big mistake that was....

      coenraad.vanderwesthuizen.3 - 2012-06-22 09:55

The willing buyer/seller policy is a great idea. But not only the farmers should be blamed. What about the red tape, administrative incompetence and lack of funds?

      moeketsi.mokoenawamonaheng - 2012-06-22 09:58

Violence begets violence, those who are talking war should worry more about discontent with landless, poor, unskilled blacks' pending uprising. My heart goes to the deceased's family though no one deserves to be violated in that manner.

      richard.hipkin - 2012-06-22 10:06

KMPhasha, you are wrong, white farmers have been negotiating and suggesting solutions to land reform and distribution for years now... There has been alot of improvements and white farmers have opened their knowledge to black emerging farmers, transfer of skills, everything. You are misinformed by the evil ANCYL.. Furthermore, the farmers on land did not steal anything from you, it is impossible for them to live that long. You see the issue is land, but he ANCYL want the farms ala Zim style. The farmers are willing to part with their land, not their farms..

      Moi - 2012-06-22 10:27

@KMPhasha - "They had more than 17 years to rectify their mistakes" Mistakes? Really? So working their asses of to keep food production up for all South Africans was a mistake?

  • john.doeslough - 2012-06-22 09:47

Come someone please explain why the ANC doesn't had out land that is not currently producing crops. I'm pretty sure there is plenty of underutilized farm land in SA. ANC must give this land to the people who want it instead of inciting violence towards the white farmer community.

      Kenna - 2012-06-22 10:24

I read somewhere that the government is the biggest land owner in SA. Go ask them for land.

  • Siphiwo - 2012-06-22 09:48

Sad state of affairs, my condolences to the Rensburg Family and friends. No one deserves to die like that. May the killers, be arrested soon.

  • Eye's Cue - 2012-06-22 09:53

Lomola, Malema, who ever!!! We all lined up to vote for change, to make things better for all! However, nothing has changed, in fact it's worse now than EVER! Watch this space carefully because it's all going to change again, quicker than any of you think!!! What goes round, comes round and we'll all line up again soon BUT this time it will be to put a stop to all you stupid, ungrateful, half-witted, low-lifers!!! Funny how, we all worked hard to 'make it' and you think we are just going to give it ALL up!!! Many Minorities rule and we'll prove it again!!! ............ LET THE CAMPAIGN BEGIN!!!

  • Mark - 2012-06-22 09:58

My sympathy goes out to the son who lost his father in a murder. I say murder because this is exactly what is happening in our townships and all other areas. All colours of our people are being killed daily. The question is, is this police force serving the interest of our people?? Should we not consider commando patrols on farms. In the old era crime hotspots were cordoned off in the early morning. Police members were deployed and commenced with door to door searches. Each operation were successful as illegal drugs, firearms, suspects stolen vehicles etc. were found. Criminals were arrested and illegal items confiscated. It is time this government start listening to the people because clearly we are tired of their ineptitude, corruption, and dialogue which is not even worth the paper it is printed on. Our people are daily suffering while the handful of cronies are plotting ways and means in finding other mechanism to take more money from us to enrich themselves.

      nickey.vanrensburg - 2012-06-22 10:07

Dude, we HAD commando's. They were abolished. It's because it worked, that why the ANC put a stop to them.

      Mark - 2012-06-22 10:26

Nickey point taken but why not try this then, Let the people mobilise and create their own commandos. I am not saying vigilantes. Clearly the police cannot get the simple job of protecting and serving right. Must we rather wait till another poor person is killed knowing that the answer lies in the people. If we show it works i say to hell with the abolishment because the people has spoken.

  • john.doeslough - 2012-06-22 10:01

@Gigo, and what will you do with such land I wonder? (that's if you even have a legitimate claim) I'm no farmer but I know dam well that it is more than throwing some seeds in the ground and watching your wheat grow... I'd rather have experts producing my food than go hungry thank you very much

To think the ANCYL use to have leaders like Nelson Mandela and Walter Sisulu and now they have Racist Idiots (Idiots is a massive understatement)! Its a joke and something has to be done! Hanno my deepest condolences for your loss, something that someone should never have to go through.

  • Ivonne Marais - 2012-06-22 10:05

Three things:\r\nFirstly people need to stop saying 'us' and 'them'. We are all Africans and this land belongs to everyone.\r\nSecondly land distribution isn't working because the ANC are to lazy, corrupt and incompetent to do the leg work. There are many willing sellers but the ANC can't organise their way out of a paper bag. In general it is NOT the farmers fault.\r\nThirdly when will the youth realise that the ANC couldn't give a rats ass about them. You're being played for a fool! Look at Limpopo, look at service delivery. If you honesty believe that the ANC are looking our for you and have your best interests at heart you deserve to be lied to.\r\n\r\nIt is a good thing that South Africans are standing up against the ANC and showing them that we are not fools to be used in their games. But let's stand up together against them. Not against each other! That's what they want.

      Jay - 2012-06-22 10:33

MSENDI : Yes, farms might be attacked because they are easy targets. BUT, answer these questions, and you might realise there is something more sinister goig on : * Why TORTURE the farmers before murdering them? (Even eldery farmers older than 70 / 80 years are burnt with irons and so on) * Why murder a 5 MONTH OLD BABY? * Why in 90% of farm attacks is nothing stolen but a cellphone or two? * Why does the SAPS mostly say that ''the motive for the attack is unknown''? If these attacks are because farms are soft targets, then why not clean out the house and steal as much as possible? Makes you wonder, hey?

  • daleinn - 2012-06-22 10:26

firstly there was no need to express such vulgarity to get the point across. As society our morals and values are pathetic.Do we assume that only people over 18 years of age read and follow the news? It was irresponsible of the ANCYL to make such demeaning statements and for the ANC to remain silent on such matters. This prove that the ANC is structurally disfunctional tyring to manage its own internal matters. I would like to say to any organisation that sowing division will not take you far. Your mindset that you are a majority is a weak and feeble one. If there is blood that must be shed it will not be whites only, blacks of all color will fight for their land too, dont be mistaken at who you target irresponsible comments to! United we will stand against dictorial rule of all forms. It appears the ANC has fogotten that the struggle for freedom , was the international community and international pressure, of races of all color that won the battle , not just the battle on the ground. International Sanctions , and protests crippled the apartheid economy and will do so in the future , to the so called land looters , and the get rich quick scheme comrades.Citizens of society, rather readjust those small mindsets to contstructive ones. It is Lack of leadership, reform and structure to put the right people in government, that is failing the people on the ground. It is not the ghost of the past, and you know its corruption and lack of disciplines in ANC structure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Countless number of black people die because of crime everyday in SA. White people are not the only ones targeted by criminals. We are all under siege so to speak. May his family rest in peace. I wish the ANCYL would be more thoughtful when they try to address land issues. They should rather concentrate on youth issues.

  • Rational100 - 2012-06-22 10:27

It's a friday ....let's all calm down and enjoy the weekend. The only people inciting violence are the trolls here. As far I understand this just a tragic criminal occurrence that has very little to do with the ANCYL. These criminals did not take the farm/land but stole guns. The danger is therefore is still out there amongst and every responsible citizen must help to apprehend these thugs before they cause more mayhem.
