Johannesburg - Roads in Parktown, Johannesburg were closed on Sunday ahead of the Jazz on the Lake concert held at the Zoo Lake, metro police said.

Jan Smuts Avenue was closed between Loch Avenue and Bolton Road, said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

"Many crossroads are closed between Oxford Road and Zoo Lake," he said.

Fans attending the concert would not be allowed to arrive at the lake in their private cars.

"They are encouraged to use the park-and-ride facilities which are at the Metro Centre in Braamfontein, the University of Johannesburg campuses in Auckland Park in Soweto as well as the Alexandra stadium," said Minnaar.

The roads would be reopened at 20:00.
