Robbers give woman R50 for petrol

2012-10-26 09:16

Durban - A Durban photographer says she was robbed by two men who gave her R50 of her own money to drive them away in their getaway.

Simone Holmes, 24, told The Mercury how she walked in on two men robbing her Durban North home and talked to them in an attempt to calm them down and defuse the situation.

The men, who were armed with a screwdriver, had tied up her domestic worker and wanted to lock up Holmes but she talked her way out of it.

They forced her to drive them to KwaMashu in her car because they didn’t know how to drive.

When Holmes became worried about running out of petrol, the robbers gave her R50 of the R3 500 they had stolen from her.

They also stole her French passport, three laptops, a computer, and some of her and her housemates’ clothing.

The men wanted to be dropped off at a taxi rank and Holmes immediately reported the crime to two policemen nearby.

But when she returned to the taxi rank the men had already gone.

N24 It was her own money.... That is the dumbest heading yet!

So "refund" would have been proper? :)

      rbphiri - 2012-10-26 12:02

Criminals who can't drive-WOW. They should've also asked her to teach them how to WORK for their OWN money and belongings, instead of stealing from other people to make a living.

    hahahahahaha

  • kala.bafazi - 2012-10-26 09:35

I would have driven to the nearest police station.

      gail.rieck.9 - 2012-10-26 09:50

I agree, put your foot flat on the petrol, hand on the hooter - in fact cause as much comotion as possible. Drive like a maniac and scare the sh*** out of the hijackers. Tell them that if you're going down, you'll take them along with you!!!!! These maggots are cowards.

      grant.callaway.50 - 2012-10-26 10:12

They would stab you, take the wheels off the car, syphon the petrol out, and sell the rest of the car to a scrap-dealer, have some lunch and a snooze, and then leave...before the police came out of the station!

      jackie.stone.501 - 2012-10-26 13:56

She should have alerted taxi drivers, they would have dealt with those criminals like nothing broer.

  • theMichaelHawthorne - 2012-10-26 09:36

She lucky she got away safe. Get a farking gun and shoot the bastards.

      glen.e.huysamer - 2012-10-26 09:46

It is farking crazy to say that she was lucky to get away with it. Yes she was farking lucky, but is it not weird that we are all thinking that this is a lucky situation. We are all farking crazy to think this, because the whole farking situation in this farking country is completely farking out of control and the time for Leon Schuter jokes about hijacks and robbery has to come to an end. We all have to start realizing sooner than later that extreme crap like this will eventually need extreme measures. Zuma's deployment of convicted criminals into society is not helping, and he should be charged with crimes against the nation.

      Andrea - 2012-10-26 12:00

Thanks Glen, you put it nicely.

      Jane - 2012-10-26 11:39

"and talked to them in an attempt to calm them down and defuse the situation" thats why she was talking to them Maurice.Fisher

Christo schoeman2 I really hope you're being sarcastic with your comments - especially the first one. If you are in any way serious I take it the 2 after your name refers to your IQ. Glad she's ok.

  • phoofolo.lebohang - 2012-10-26 10:22

Sad if its a true story... Coz she was supposed to alert the petrol attendants, at taxi rank its obviously there was so many people who can assist to catch the thugs.

  • jackie.stone.501 - 2012-10-26 13:54

So does this mean she passed through a petrol station with criminals? or they only gave her R50 when they boarded a taxi? Maybe she just does not trust taxi drivers, and I am really sure they could have helped her and beaten the hell out of those robbers, trust me taxi drivers don't want to see criminals
