Johannesburg - Cheetahs rugby player Barry Goodes was robbed at his home in Bloemfontein on Sunday, police said.

Goodes, the team's centre, was dressing at his home in Heuwelsig on Sunday morning when three men cam in, held him at gunpoint and demanded that he show them his safe.

"When he explained that he did not have one, one of them hit him with the butt of a firearm and he fell down," said Superintendent Motantsi Makhele.

The three men then covered Goodes with a towel and went through his home. They took his wallet containing about R400, his cellphone, a Seiko wrist watch and clothes.

They fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen Golf with Gauteng registration plates.

Makhele said Goods was not seriously injured in the incident.

Police later found the vehicle next to the Windmill Casino and arrested one suspect.

Some of the items stolen were recovered in the vehicle.

Anyone with information leading to the arrest of the two remaining suspects should contact Captain Francois Laux on 082 446 6174.
