Johannesburg - A man believed to be Russian drowned off Durban's North Beach on Sunday morning, paramedics said.
Lifeguards pulled him from the surf and tried to resuscitate him, Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.
Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards, but they failed to revive him.

His death follows the drowning of a British couple in Plettenberg Bay on Saturday.
The National Sea Rescue Institute said the bodies of a 28-year-old man and 26-year-old women were found in the surf on Robberg Beach.
