Johannesburg - A South African-born policeman known as "Robocop" in the British area he now works in, is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car while cycling, Beeld reported on Tuesday.

Constable Diederik Coetzee, 54, has been known as "Robocop" where he works in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, since 2005 after breaking a British record for the most arrests in a year.

Coetzee, who had also been a policeman in South Africa, was the victim of a hit and run while cycling last Friday.

I hope he survives, the UK needs p[policemen like him. He was arresting too many dope pushers around the local YMCA and the YMCA complained to the police that youths were not coming to the centre, so the powers that be grounded him and told him to stay away. It is not only the South African police who are stupid, the UK have more than their fair share, and a lot of them get promoted to Superintendent! :-( They are unable to appreciate a good thing when it bites them in the... ... leg.
