SA soldier laid to rest

Johannesburg - A South African soldier who was killed in Dafur in Sudan two weeks ago has been laid to rest in Klerksdorp in the North West, the SABC reported on Saturday.

Mourners described Mthuthuzeli van der Walt as a hero who died while on a peace mission.

Hundreds of people including South African National Defence Force officials, mayors and members of Parliament attended the funeral.

Van der Walt was part of the United Nation's peace mission in Sudan.

      Charmain they volentering for dollars. I serve for 18yrs as an soldier and instructor in the army . Our army is not ready for war. They are a handfull who who are well trained . In all red zones is a big no no for the training they recieve now. I feel sorry for the young man and may God be with his familly . May his soul RIP.

    RIP. One innocent life lost for stupid political reason. Bring a soldiers home and put them on border guard duty or to protect the Big Five on farms or national parks.
