Johannesburg - South African violinist Annake de Villiers was found dead in her family farmhouse near Steynsrus on Tuesday, Free State police said.

Captain Rulene Khün said she was found with one gunshot wound to the head at 13:00. She said there was a revolver next to the body.

"Police don't suspect any foul play at this stage," Khn said.

De Villiers was a member of the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra, the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of South Africa, OFM radio station reported on Tuesday.

De Villiers was the ex-wife of singer Jannie Moolman.

So very sad. Y'know... I wish people could convert the courage that it takes to shoot yourself and use it to realise they have the strength to continue. No earthly problem cannot be overcome (The saying is...This too shall pass). The moment of most regret is when the bullet is between the barrel and your head - and then it's too late. RIP Annake.

How selfish to do it in your parents home. Some people just think about themselfs.

You know Felicity, you cannot condemn the victim - you cannot even begin to understand what might have been going through her mind at that moment. We had a suicide in the family 22 years ago, also in the home. I would have preferred it that way, he was found by people who loved Kim and cared about him. We still have no idea why, but know that whatever was going on in his mind as just too difficult to even try and live through. My sincere condolences to her family.

Vrouens pleeg nie selfmoord deur hulself in die kop te skiet nie. Net oor die SAP bepaal "no foul play was involved" beteken nie dat "no foul play involved" was nie...

I can't help but feel that we as friend and family are partly to blame for these terrible things happening. How alone must Annake have felt that she thought she had NO ONE to turn to? Have we become so self involved in our own lifes that we don't see others anymore. RIP Annake and may your family and friends find the support in this terrible that you so much needed...
