Johannesburg - SABC news CEO Phil Molefe was appointed acting group CEO (GCEO) of the broadcaster on Friday, it said in a statement.

"This appointment will be in force until the finalisation of the process of appointing a permanent GCEO," said SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago.

Robin Nicholson was acting GCEO until Thursday when his contract as chief financial officer ended.

Kganyago said that while Nicholson was acting GCEO, Lerato Nage had been acting CFO.

She will continue in that position until the appointment of a permanent CFO.
