SABC making progress - minister

Johannesburg - The SABC is making progress towards its recovery, the communications ministry said on Monday.

Communications Minister Dina Pule had met the broadcaster's board and discussed the implementation of a turnaround strategy, the department said in a statement.

Spokesperson Pearl Seopela said the minister noted that it still faced many challenges, and there were concerns about operational inefficiencies that resulted in the loss of funds.

She found it was vital to fill the positions of the group chief executive officer, chief financial officer, and chief operations officer to ensure stability.

"The board needs to professionalise the SABC by implementing culture change and transformation programmes that will also boost workforce morale," the ministry said.
