Johannesburg - The case against a Limpopo sangoma, who defied a court order restraining him from seeing his 13-year-old wife, was postponed in the Mokerong Magistrate's Court on Friday.

The girl's mother also appeared National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Medupe Simasuku said.

The case would be heard on 29 May to allow the defence time to appoint an advocate to handle the matter.

The current lawyer would stand down.

The sangoma, 57, was previously charged with marrying a minor, but the case was withdrawn in January.

Instead, a court issued an order preventing him from seeing the teenager, who was taken to a place of safety.

Posing as her uncle, he went to see her.

When social workers went looking for her they found her at his house.

The girl's mother was also there.

The sangoma and the mother were arrested for contravening the court order.
