Jan Kempdorp - The rape and assault case against four schoolboys was postponed in the Jan Kempdorp Magistrate's Court on Thursday because the police investigation has not been completed yet.

The school holidays apparently delayed the taking down of affidavits, Netwerk24 reported.

The four boys, two of them aged 18 and the other two aged 14 and 15, arrived early on Thursday morning with their family members and waited in the court benches to be called.

Three of the four boys on Wednesday appeared before the school governing body of the Hoër Landbouskool Noord-Kaapland for a disciplinary hearing. Earlier, disciplinary charges were withdrawn against the fourth boy, aged 14, but he is still facing criminal charges.

Their identities may not be published.

The four boys allegedly took part in an initiation process at the boys' hostel on Sunday evening, February 1. A 19-year-old newcomer was smeared with soap and polish and his hair was shaved off. He was then allegedly raped with a broomstick and toothbrush in front of a group of boys, some of whom filmed it on their cellphones.

The boy told his mother about the incident two days later.

The matter was postponed to May 15.
