Johannesburg - Seven people, two of them children, were injured when their bakkie rolled on the R28 near the Poortjie offramp in Vereeniging on Saturday.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said the driver lost control of the bakkie and the canopy detached from the vehicle.

“When ER24 paramedics, provincial EMS and Fire and Rescue Services arrived on scene they found that some people were ejected from the bakkie. They were scattered around the scene. Among them were two children believed to be eight and 10 years of age. The driver and the passenger were trapped in the vehicle.”

Bodasing said Fire and Rescue Services removed the trapped victims.

“All patients were assessed and found to have sustained minor to serious injuries. They were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.”
