Cape Town - The sentencing of a Sea Point man convicted of rape and murder was postponed by the Cape Town Regional Court on Wednesday.

Siyabonga Gelese, 22, was found guilty last month and was due to be sentenced on Wednesday but the correctional supervision report was not available.

The case was postponed to 13 November, when the report will be available.

According to the charge sheet, Gelese met a woman in a nightclub in January last year. They went to his apartment and she consented to sexual relations with him. Afterwards she told him she was HIV-positive.

Gelese told the court he was "incensed" as he had wanted to use a condom, but she refused. In anger, he stabbed her 17 times and then hid the body under his bed.

A day or two later he was back in the same nightclub, and took two women and their male companion to his flat, where one of the women had sex with the male companion.

The second woman declined sex with Gelese, and he then raped the other woman while she slept - while the body of his previous victim lay under his bed.
