Sex therapist: I was raped

2013-03-15 13:02

Johannesburg - Sex therapist "Dr Eve", whose real name is Marlene Wasserman, has for the first time spoken out about being raped 11 years ago, it was reported on Friday.

"I felt, for me, like it was the right time to go public with it," she told The Times.

Wasserman spoke about the rape at an Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa) public hearing in Johannesburg on Thursday. The hearings were about TopTV's application for three porn channels.

She was there in support of the application, and said it would help adolescents understand their own sexuality.

Wasserman told the newspaper she began entertaining the idea of going public at the beginning of last month's "Stop Rape" campaign, but wanted to protect her family.

"I discussed it with them and decided that I would feel and know when the time was right and... where I wanted to do it," she said.

The report has details of when and where the rape took place.

Wasserman said after such a traumatic experience, she found that it was difficult to recover.

"No matter how many self-defence classes you take, no matter how much protection or barriers you put into your house, there's something that shatters inside a woman or man, and stays shattered forever, and you have to learn to live with that."

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 13:30

So she admits that children will access the porn channel, and thinks its a good thing: "She was there in support of the application, and said it would help adolescents understand their own sexuality". She should be banned.

      FreeThinker - 2013-03-15 13:49

Squeegee Pilot the issue is not her support of the porn channels, however any of us may fee about the porn channels. The issue is she was raped.

      John Loveland - 2013-03-15 14:03

You have reading problem Squeegee. She said nothing of the sort. Seems your own narrow mindedness bias has skewered your ability to read and comprehend. You don't have to agree with her stance, but twisting her word to what you want to hear is absurd. You should be banned

      John Loveland - 2013-03-15 14:06

And to qualify my statement... I'm NOT pro the porn sites. I believe if people want porn they can get it elsewhere.

      annette.kruger.50 - 2013-03-15 15:31

@Squeegee....The channel will have a pin code should adults choose to have it but let's just wake up a bit. My daughter nine wanted images about being happy, was looking for that yellow happy face when she scrolled down and down and there right in the middle of many happy faces a photo of two naked men having anal sex. Children are exposed to these type of things everyday, everywhere and by no means do I agree with the porn channel, I'm just saying everybody screams NO while these type of things can be seen anywhere.

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 17:40

Can you people actually read? I quoted the article. She revealed her own (sad) rape WHILE supporting the porn channel which she claims will help adolescents understand their own sexuality...

      Tian Loedolff - 2013-03-15 18:22

Shocking indeed. Somehow, watching Pornography in which women are degraded as sex objects, will help our youth understand their sexuality... And she is a Sex Therapist. What has being raped got to do with anything here or does that now give here credentials on the subject of porn? She is promoting porn to the youth. Period.

      Tian Loedolff - 2013-03-15 18:25

Not really worth being called a sex therapist if she doesn't even know there is a relation between pornography and rape. All sex offenders are addicted to pornography.

      Rory Wayne Browne - 2013-03-15 18:41

porn is porn is porn. Don't get me wrong I am no prude but really the stuff that the have on even ETV it is pure smut. nothing more nothing less. The worst was that I had to try and explain to a bunch of kids that were talking about it at school (of all places) that what the saw was smut and had nothing to do with the real feelings of two people in love. If this Dr. whatever is for a porn channel well then what can one say. SMUTTY SMUTTY SMUTTY.

      valkerie.koekemoer - 2013-03-15 22:12

N24 is not reporting her comments within context I think. Please visit for a more filled out report on the issue. Thanks N24, you've proven that sensation sells yet again.

      Phillip Marchant - 2013-03-15 22:36

My sincere condolences to the lady for her most unfortunate rape experience. However, News24 should not link that experience with any viewpoint on pornography. It is not only cheap sensationalism in trying to garner support for a clear agenda, but severely tests the integrity of the online reader. Whilst it is one thing for the newsdesk to hold forth a perspective on any matter, indeed, it is another to attempt to aggressively perpetuate such a position, espesially in a manner reserved for the usual one-eyed populists.

      Beverly Young - 2013-03-16 00:09

The dilema for me, (notwithstanding this womans stance/speech etc) is how do you teach your children about sex? I dont think you can actually, by the time you have bought the books, with pictures and simple explanations, they laugh at you as they have heard it all before from their peers. Its not a teachers job, sex classes aside, its pretty hit or miss. If you are fortunate to grow up in a 'normal' home, the most you can do is preach safe sex, and NO to rape. Anyway, for me NO to porn channels...I shudder at the thought. I have grandsons and I am hoping that my sons will find a way to explain about the sex, birth etc as I tried to do, but we were farmers and somehow the examples were easier out there. I have always hoped that I did the right thing, but then we never know do we?

  • Piet Strydom - 2013-03-15 13:20

Not sure how twisted porn is going to help adolescents come to term with their sexuality? That is the last place on earth they should be getting their sex education!!!

      Cherri Pye - 2013-03-15 13:29

Exactly, Piet, as if the world isn't perverse enough at the moment.

      Bryn - 2013-03-15 13:49

How exactly are adolescents going to access the adult channels on TopTV? Have you even thought about it? It's opted into by adults and authorised for temporary periods with an access code. If you don't want them they will never bother you. You live your life and let others live theirs.

      Matthew - 2013-03-15 13:55

I can understand what this Dr means by saying that. But to me,that means that there will be someone (one of the parents or Life Skills teacher etc) there to explain to them, anything they should ask or mis-interpret at any given time "kids" are watching this. I mean,do you then set a time for it "Okay Adam, you can watch your porn, but only after your homework and choirs are done, okay?" "Yes Dad!"... Um,yeah,i dont see that happening any time soon unless your dad's name is Hugh Hefner (spell) But sure,it CAN be good,if guided properly.but will that happen? no,doubt that will happen at all.

      Jan Hendrik - 2013-03-15 14:13

Well poor kids get sex education at home in the shacks, by seeing and hearing anyway...

      Judit Victor - 2013-03-16 15:46

Get the sex therapists and sex teachers the h-ll away from my children! I'll give them the morals. Get your eager talk away from their ears! Give them maths and science and this life orientation nonsense must go! It's part of the sick system where others believe what's good for another's children.

  • Cherri Pye - 2013-03-15 13:27

The right place to talk about it is at an application hearing for a porn broadcasting licence....seriously???

      Andrew Hendrick - 2013-03-15 13:57

mmmm, not sure why she chose there. As her husband i would have thought rather on her talk show on Radio702 & CapeTalk567

      Rendani Nemavhidi - 2013-03-15 14:24

Great question to ask Cherri. Smacks of an attempt to use a genuine tragedy to blackmail us into accepting porn. She seems to have let go of platforms provided by the likes of Anneene Booysen tragedy and many others. Porn will just become a breeding ground for many rape monsters.

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 17:42

I'm amazed that she is not been taken to task about this. She actually believes a porn channel will help kids. I'm astounded that people accept this because she's a sex "expert" - more like pervert!

  • salaminah.moremikayizzi - 2013-03-15 13:36

Kudos for speaking out Marlene but I'm surprised that you support Top Porn TV's application!

      Bryn - 2013-03-15 13:53

Why would it surprise you that a seemingly rational and intelligent person is against people imposing their views and choices on others? It seems like those who are against the application think that every channel on TopTV will change to adult entertainment if it goes through.

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 17:44

Bryn, read again - she linked it to adolescents learning about their sexuality. She chose to put the porn channel into the context of children and should be lambasted for it.

  • Rendani Nemavhidi - 2013-03-15 13:40

Life begins in the Spirit. A Spirit gave the command and what can be seen came into being. Similarly porn has very spiritual implications. Porn and the sex industry industry have a spirit behind them. Churches are inundated with people suffering from spirits (spiritual husband) that rape them in dreams with resultant limitations in their natural life. The fact that Dr Eve was violated is good enough reason for her not support porn. I'm shocked she testified in support I pray that she seeks God s help. RSA has enough problems with sexual abuse and now we have to sacrifice the country to prop up Top Tv. What have we come to God help us. It is time that the demons behind this deception are exposed. Jesus help us.

      Bryn - 2013-03-15 13:47

Are you insane? Live your life and let others live theirs. There is no way the new adult channels will ever interfere with your life or be visible to kids. It's opted into by adults and requires a pin to access thereafter.

      sanette.dewet - 2013-03-15 14:56

@ Bryn - your comment is, especially teens are more clever than you think! When porn was banned teenagers got their hands on it, and you think a PIN will stop them? Weren't you a teen once?

      zmasemola1 - 2013-03-15 15:09

@sanette ehhh kids accessing your PIN has got nothing to do with how smart they are, but its got everything to do with how careless you are. So yes the PIN system will work, as long as you keep it safe, away from prying eyes.

      Lionel De Frontignac - 2013-03-16 09:25

Ag puhleez man! these kids know more about porn than we do! All it takes is a smart phone... Deciding what others should do in the privacy of their homes is none of your business!

  • Andrew Hendrick - 2013-03-15 13:54

after reading this how can anyone say that sex is just a physical thing. Something changes in you when you intimate with another. I do not understand prostitution or pornography for fun. It is your wedding gift from not take it lightly

  • Ngwana Gae - 2013-03-15 14:03

How will porn help teenagers with sex education? Will it not create unrealistic expectation of what sex should be like

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:15

I suggest you go read this article, since News24 once again quoted someone out of context for sensationalism. Dr Eve is a very smart woman, and I'm sorry she had to deal with this. Also, porn does NOT leave to rape:

  • Hajira Singh - 2013-03-15 14:07

There are just too many rapings taking place now!!!

      Suzanne Viljoen - 2013-03-15 14:23

Yes! Do people really THINK porn will help rape decrease Really!!

      Bongile Langa - 2013-03-15 22:09

I really feel for ppl lik dr. Eve who find themselves being victims of Rape, but the platform and the side she chose to voice her trajedy is what baffles me.....why porn channel??????

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:16

Go read this, she's a very wise lady. Unfortunately quoted out of context, News24's favourite pass time.

  • Rainbow Nation - 2013-03-15 14:08

We have a rape victim who literally states that porn is educational for adolecence. We have top tv who will put our woman and children at risk of being raped in their own homes by men who watch the porn just so that they can make a buck and save themselves from financial ruin. We have people like Bryn and Rm elegant who will vigirously defend the idea of porn in the family enviroment. We live in a sick world.

  • Ronell Germshuys - 2013-03-15 14:08

Marlene, I agree...something shatters inside and stays shattered FOREVER....and it cant be fixed

  • Rebel - 2013-03-15 14:09

What the hell is going on here, a sex therapist getting raped, CHILDREN having access to porn, whats next?

      nanivintage.ngoasheng - 2013-03-16 11:55

      Jacob Zuma making another baby

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:19

Children won't have access to porn, the channels, if allowed will be regulated. Anyway, children can access porn on the internet if they really want to. Go read what Dr Eve said here, she makes some valid points:

  • Carol Harvey - 2013-03-15 14:13

Sorry, there are more women raped and sexually abused than is known

  • Candy Nobelungu Nhleko - 2013-03-15 14:14

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 17:47

      Addicted Candy?

      Bongile Langa - 2013-03-15 22:15

Any1's choice but it affects you. It might not be happening now, but who knows what will happen once they approve this immoral idea!!!

  • Marlene Wiid - 2013-03-15 14:16

marlene you must be mad to support their application.

  • shaun.dragt - 2013-03-15 14:19

What people are failing to understand is that the porn channels that could possibly be shown is soft porn. eTV have been doing it for ages. If your son or daughter has a phone, there is more damaging and explicit sex to be found on the net than any tv channels could show! Just get over it. If children want to watch it, they're gonna find a way. People are going to have to come up with better solutions for curbing rape than banning a soft porn channel.

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 17:48

Where did you hear that nonsense? These are hardcore channels...

  • johan.harlaar.9 - 2013-03-15 14:30

    Brave woman to go public,

  • Deon Trytsman - 2013-03-15 14:46

Even during apartheid when words like sex and porn was banned from polite conversation rape took place. So don't blame rape on porn, blame it on people, don't ban the porn ban the people and look towards the Arab countries to deal with those rapists, just cut it off.

      sanette.dewet - 2013-03-15 15:43

I don't know how much you know about "arab" countries, but in most of them the woman is killed if she was raped, as her "actions" was seen as adultry, even if it is a child.....they get stoned to death or poisoned by they own families to in hounor killings. Read up on it and think.....the men can pay a fine and marry their victems to save her if he sees fit. It happens more than you know. NOT the answer, sharia law never is.

      squeegee.pilot - 2013-03-15 17:50

Deon, do you honestly believe that the rate of rape has not increased in SA? Wow. Did you just wake up from a coma?

  • John Thelps - 2013-03-15 14:49

You are condoning rape. The uneducated look at these things and do not have a clue what to do with the urges so they go out and rape. Example: a 6 year old who have just watched some porn on etv and tries it with some girl. I hope before my daughter gets raped you would be first in line. You obviously learned nothing from your experience.

      DikgosiThokoane - 2013-03-15 15:05

Ur 6yr old should not b watching TV by themself in the 1st place..... Try 2 b a parent to ur kids.....

      zmasemola1 - 2013-03-15 15:19

@John Thelps So you had to go school to learn that it is wrong to force yourself on some woman (or man for that matter)?

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:24

Rape is not about sex, it's about violence. A lot of people watch porn without wanting to rape. And your second last sentence is hate speech, shame on you!

  • jacqui.daanevanrensburg - 2013-03-15 14:51

In countries where porn channels are normal, no increase in rape cases take place. Are you all Top TV watchers?.

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 09:54

Jacqui : It seems your only concern is the increase or decrease of rape. That is not the only issue here at stake. Why would you focus on that only, and not the fact that many a porn stars are trafficked. So in supporting this, I would like to get your daughter and send her abroad to work as either prostitute or porn star. I hope that would not upset you too much. When I am busy doing that, I will force her onto drugs and let her addiction drive my "practice". Just an example of what we are also against.

  • Jeffrey Meneses - 2013-03-15 14:51

Bring back the death sentence for rape, murder and corruption.

  • Badger - 2013-03-15 14:58

She was there in support of the application, and said it would help adolescents understand their own sexuality...... I think this is utter BS, how the f**k does an adolescent understand their sexuality by watching PORN ??????????????????????????????????

      Thabiso Ramokobala - 2013-03-16 04:02

To make them understand sex can be consensual, they dont have to take it by force in an abusive manner to enjoy it

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:25

She was quoted out of context. Go read the full story, very insightful lady. Shame that she had to go through this:

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 10:21

Marlene, think you need to read againFirst she said, the Top TV porn would not increase rape etce tc. She leaves out that it would decrease it. So she is honest enough, in her view that it would not increase our pendamic. Since Feb 2012 she gatheres scientific facts...If she be the educated and experienced why did she only have to go to science one year before? As someone that is in the public domain for YEARSSSSS, she should have had her facts together. The evils of sex. I am bothered that people who attended the hearing could have had a problem with sex. She is a blatent liar. Who get's hurt by SEX ? Who ? ?? ??? Good Lord, please wake up the blindness of the blind. "I refuse to accept that adult non violent porn is the source of sexual violence . Its too simplistic an argument." - And again she is right, it is not as simplistic as that only. The fact remains, porn alters the mind of the viewer in a negative way, not even talking about the negatives of excessive masturbation....No this doctor is living out her fantasies, in a strange way. Not to come to our TV's....I also understand where her thinking problems started. Like she said it was called sexual violence and today rape. Another question I would like to ask is, why does men have to penetrate to show power. Would it not be easier and even more powerful to KILL? For that is the utmost of power experience...I am tired.....

  • Iona van Niekerk - 2013-03-15 15:11

How can you think showing porn to children will help them in any way!!!!! our society is sick because we lack God!!!!

      Judit Victor - 2013-03-16 10:23

to Iona... yes and an emphasis on Sex talk! Too much please stop this madness!

  • Rouxne Roxy McIntyre - 2013-03-15 15:11

Are you fckng kidding me??? Rape victum supporting porn channels?!

  • Peasant McPoor - 2013-03-15 15:50

To all u humansaurus's- get with the times. U tell me: why does first world countries with commercial porn have MUCH lower rape stats than than our crap country with no commercial porn?? Start thinking!!...and pls don't put a god in the picture- its an invalid variable.

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 10:31

Peasant - I would like to pose a Q. If you had a daughter, and a son, and they be taken from your home, or wherever and put on drugs, and then forced to have sex with each other. Some more, they are told, if they don't you and you wife will be killed, with your whole family. I guess you will approve of that, right ? Than I cont....These children of your's brings forth a child. The same thing happens to this child. Worse even, this child is trafficked and drugged from age 2 - 4 to support an industry who is so callous and heartless that they even use a "sex specialist" to stand up for them. Damn, how can't you see this for what it really is ? ? ?

  • Peasant McPoor - 2013-03-15 15:57

Hey- can I start my own porn production in SA?? That would be rock n roll. Start up is a mission, but maybe I can get in bed with top tv and work something out. Good times!!

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-27 00:11

Just use your own kids, so we can come and jail ur ass.

  • pjthesecond.eldest - 2013-03-15 20:39

Clearly, like me, you bunch are not qualified to speak on this issue. While we are trolling for news, the authorities on this issue are trolling the porn sites.

  • Moses Govender - 2013-03-15 21:31

Wonder how much Top Tv paid her or will she have shares in the channels. Otherwise for the life of me don't understand why she involved herself here!

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:31

She's involved because it's her field of work Moses, she's a sex therapist. Plus what is written in this article is BS, she was quoted out of context. In fact, in the whole she made some very valid points, read here:

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 10:40

Marleen, I would like to know if you are a spokeswoman for Dr Eve ? She is no sex therapist, she is a Godless woman wanting to perverse this country further into the slavery of immorality. South Africa is split, but please tell us how FOR 5% - Against 95% right ? ?

  • Dan Moore - 2013-03-16 05:03

She needs some to explain to her that coming out about your rape but supporting porn sends a confusing message. I support some nudity on tv like in Europe, and that is not porn, that is some woman's breast in the shower on a shampoo commercial not porn. Porn should be highly restricted to adult only viewing.

  • Pieter Visser - 2013-03-16 05:14

I don't think it is wise to crack a joke about a rape victim who happens to be a sex therapist. Believe me there's plenty therapist jokes in my arsenal but rape is no laughing matter. So I'll just call her stupid for encouraging young hormone driven males to watch naked women play with themselves all day...crazy lady!

  • cindy.wrathex.ruthven - 2013-03-16 06:18

Stupid girl with a stupid agenda. This is rape capital, where the average education level leaves much to be desired. Preaching around here about porn is not talking about porn in the Hollywood sense of the word. This is the real world where the tired old mantra of " men raping woman is a power trip " is so out of date that I want to puke. Men rape very many reasons, and in our society and culture it is permissible, the statistics make that clear. Porn should not be encouraged in the media, porn should not be banned in the media. Porn must be a subscription service. The choice is yours. First educate the masses, of what it is to live in a sexually free environment, because supporting the sex industry so stupidly. My hope is that all of us whom have been raped can live/be in a future South Africa, that is free of sexual tension, fear and utter stupidity from the well meaning feminists who miserably fail to understand the high rate of sexual abuse in South Africa.

      cherri.pye.5 - 2013-03-16 19:15

Thank you for your very lucid comments, that mantra is tiresome.

  • marcogburger - 2013-03-16 07:26

There should be a mandatory life sentence for rapists and nothing less.

  • Terrence Schwartz - 2013-03-16 08:11

She is sick - would help adolescents with their own sexuality.!! Sex is sacred, to be enjoyed between married men and women. Views/comments of this nature contribute to the adulteroius and sinful generation which we live in. Would she allow her daughter to be exploited and perform in these performances? Perhaps this is a platform for hwer tro sell more of her Sex Toys!!

  • ANASKA - 2013-03-16 08:33

She kept this awful secret for so many years - i take my hat of for you Lady!!

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 10:58

I take my hat off for her, but put it back on due to her support for Top TV's Porn.....She is a dissapointment to this country.

  • sam.makua.10 - 2013-03-16 09:21

In support of a porn channel and being raped some years ago?? It boggles the mind, how does one have to do with the other? Wil easy access to porn al night al day decrease the social ill of rape #devastatingly confused

  • Lionel De Frontignac - 2013-03-16 09:23

So rapists watch porn, thus it's porn's fault? Same logic applies to guys who listen to death metal and chop people up with swords. Whilst I'm not pro porn, the sickos who abuse women and children are not going to change if it were banned. One small example: I'm sure that there is no porn in Catholic Seminaries!

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 11:05

      Are you sure ???

  • mantlekilo - 2013-03-16 10:10

So sorry to hear about what you went through ....the only excuse a man could have to rape a woman is because he really really really has a death wish. I think about sex many times a day, read erotic literature and watch porn, but I know that I have never had the urge to force myself on anyone. I am therefore more than comfortable stating as fact that I want rapists executed. Rape is a crime of violence and violence must be used to punish those that choose to rape.

  • Judit Victor - 2013-03-16 10:20

This lady is far too "in your face" - leave it already. I'm really sorry she was raped - the worst thing ever! I think people have procreated for thousands of years without the help of a sex therapist. Let people age normally and stop making sex the issue of everything! Stop teaching the children I beg you - all the sex talk has to stop. Nothing has improved (on the contrary teenage pregnancies are now the highest it's ever been). Could it be that it's because children, with developing brains, are being "taught" to soon and instead of being educated they are being stimulated. Get a grip, it's embarrassing on radio to hear old people talk about how much they want sex. Go to your GP's.

The country in the world with the lowest teen pregnancy rate is The Netherlands. Talk about sex is encouraged both in schools and the media. Through sex ed kids are taught important values, such as not to rape, and to make informed decisions about having sex. Completely ignoring the issue will not prevent people from having sex, so your suggestion is medieval and ridiculous.

      Judit Victor - 2013-03-16 17:27

Marlene I do not want other people fiddling with my children's minds. Not at all. Medieval how? So the Netherlands is your rudder for what's moral in society? Whatever floats your boat - knock yourself out, but as for MY kids, I want their brains intact, while they're in my care. I consider it assault when teachers have the right to give them an education I didn't buy into.

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 18:38

      Good luck to your children.

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 11:08

Marleen, only because they are on drugs and contraceptive meds. Wake UP

  • Rampant - 2013-03-16 10:32

    Cheap publicity.

  • Frankly Speaking - 2013-03-16 10:45

Sex is natural you don,t need someone to teach you how to do it. One gain experience along the way and from peers and adult friends. Sex Education is only a money making scheme. Worse, you cant use porn to teach people about sex because porn is not real, its just entertainment. Check the positions they do, they are aimed at showing sex genitals to the camera. Its all a money making scheme

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 15:58

This is the most ridiculous thing to say. How are kids supposed to make informed decisions about sex if they are not educated? Do you know how many children and adults (especially women) are sexually abused due to lack of education? The country in the world with the lowest teen pregnancy rate is The Netherlands - a place that encourages sex ed and sex discourse in the media.Plus their rape statistics are dramatically lower than ours. Completely ignoring the issue is what leads to rape, abuse and other distorted conceptions.

      cherri.pye.5 - 2013-03-16 19:11

Marleen, we were not taught this rubbish in schools and we were able to make informed decisions. Now these little punks are armed with way more knowledge than is necessary and school girl pregnancies are as common as grass. Please stop talking tripe.

      marleen.wyk - 2013-03-16 20:00

Cherri Pye, not sure who you are and what your circumstances were growing up, and I don't know who the 'we'is you are referring to. What I do know, is that I know a lot of women, age 25 and up (the generation who didn't have sex ed), who think that their bodies should be taken for granted by men (especially their husbands). Do yourself a favour and ask around how many people actually know the definition of rape in the legal sence. Do you know it? Because this is something that is taught in sex ed. I myself don't recall knowing about legal age when I was in school, because guess what, there was no education! Further, loads of women are molested by family members and is and have always been hesitant to speak up. Could this be due to an environment where discussing sex is a taboo? There are many reasons for South Africa remaining a third world country, and misconceptions about sex and failure to address these is one of those issues. If you don't believe me, look at rape and teen pregnancy statistics of countries with a liberal attitude towards sex and compare them to ours.

      cherri.pye.5 - 2013-03-16 20:12

marleen, if your parents were incapable of arming you with the info that you needed to know about sex, legal age, what rape is, etc, don't assume everyone is in that position. That's where sex education should take place - in the home - and by your parents without the outside assistance that is now forced on our children. For the record, I'm slightly older than 25 and no man has ever taken my body for granted. This isn't Victorian times, women have been emancipated and liberated for decades or did you and your friends miss the memo?

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 12:51

Marleen, or Marlene : Please have a look at the crime rates. Please explain to me how you come to your conclusions. This is an old stat. So I will be getting the latest stats and I put my money on it that is will much worse. Will get back to you....Mmmmm

      Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-23 12:52

Marleen / Marlene : Please also note that the Netherlands has been 7th out of how many countries where it comes to rape ! ! !

I am so sorry for this woman, cause I know the effects rape has on one. But I do question here thinking behind the TopTV application ? Pornography has nothing to do with sexuality, it has everything to do with Godlessness and perverseness. How can she justify this ? ? As a rape victim myself, I do question her thinking ....

  • Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-16 15:11

I cannot help but wonder as to how much she was payed to say that.....

  • Alexa Miller - 2013-03-16 22:09

I fear the worst for the future of the youth in this country, and the country in general. I am astonished that even this subject is under discussion. Parents should be teaching their children about their sexuality not excessive dose of porn, what do we expect??

  • Ron Samuels - 2013-03-17 06:16

if you supported this application you need help!

  • Kevinwilliams - 2013-03-19 22:25

It would be interesting to know if she made a case, since she is educated right, and knows how important it is for stats ? ?

I want to reverse here a little bit. There are quit a few people using the Netherlands as an example on how to structure our laws etc. Does the very same people forget that it was the dutch that enslaved South Africans under apartheid ? Should we follow a nation that sent their people here, to colonize and kill and steal from our country ? Should we not reflect on the past and say, hey these people were the same people that nearly wiped out this nation. And you want to promote their laws here ? ? Sorry to say, but that can and shall never happen. The same way they enslaved the african, the same way they are enslaving their fellow neighbors, the Russian's, Ukraine, Kazahkstani, Polish, women and children to further their sick trade in humans and sex. This is not a playground for them to enslave us in just another way. HELL NO
