Shooting at Pretoria law firm leaves 4 dead

2012-03-28 14:14

Johannesburg – Three people were killed in a murder-suicide at a law firm in Centurion, police said on Wednesday.

A fourth person apparently died in hospital, Beeld and Tuks FM reported.

The shooting occurred after a meeting between a lawyer and his three clients and another lawyer and his client at the firm’s offices, EWN said.

An argument broke out, police spokesperson Annabel Middleton said, and one of the men took out a firearm and began shooting.

    So they had a sit down, like the mafia, they discussed things, like the Don's, and one went all Capo on their a**ses.

      I am very sure that this is all about money....!!

      Luvo - 2012-03-29 18:29

      This incident needs to written off as a once-off weirdie and mustn't warrant harsh action to those visiting lawyers for various reasons

      Sale%c3%a9 - 2012-03-29 19:59

      @Luvo - no, it should not be written off as a once-off. It needs to be taken seriously as a sign of the times. I'd go so far as to say litigation lawyers should consider screening visitors for weapons if they are having a meeting attended by bot sides. Treating things as "once-off" is not always the best way to go.

    This must be a divorce gone real bad. You have to feel for all involved... Except maybe the lawyers?

      And you wonder why i'm still single ?

      "The shooting occurred after a meeting between a lawyer and his three clients and another lawyer and his client at the firm’s offices, EWN said." Far too many parties involved for it to be a divorce case. :/

      I'll say it again. News24 is Moron convention. That's why I hardly come here anymore. Why would you assume this is a marital case? This story broke out in much more detail on IOL hours ago. ***face palm***

      Could this be an advanced death penalty? Seems like someone decided life is too long and then also that it might be less scary when you take a couple of guys along with you. This guy is not necessarily a 'murderer' I mean I sometimes feel like getting even myself, especially where attourneys are involved. What is the difference between a quick bullet and a burning tyre around your neck? All these thingsshould be carefully considered before we simply blame the shooter. At least he tried to keep it clean and quick.....

  • Pixie86 - 2012-03-28 14:29

    Any idea where in Centurion this happened? Which legal firm involved?

      suikerblom - 2012-03-28 15:27

      According to Die Beeld on Twitter it happened at Richardson and van der Walt in Zwartkop

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-28 15:31

      ask Jayson... he sounds like he knows where all the law firms are in Centurion (which im told is not in JHB - i learnt something new today) :)

      Msika - 2012-03-28 16:07

      E=MC2 if learning tht Centurion is'nt in JHB a big deal for u then, hw about u change ur name to "dumb" or something? Cauze clearly by ur level of thinking u dnt deserve to be called with u current name.

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-28 16:20

      @Msika - if you cant sense the sarcasm in my tone then im afraid that you're the dumb one. LOL, some people.

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-28 16:21

      & "dnt deserve to be called with u current name."? You're really proving my point for me... thanks ;)

      Msika - 2012-03-28 17:52

      @MC -Remember the comments u made to Jason's posting earlier on? U said, centurion is in jhb until poor Jason saved u by adding some piece of knowledge into your empty skull. So it's being sarcastic to say "centurion is in JHB" whereas it's in Thswane? I dnt sense any sarcasm in your tone @ all, i only sense pure dumpness and ignorance. U didnt knw where centurion is until Jason came to ur rescue..PERIOD. I dnt see a diff between you and those Americans who believed tht South Africa is found somewhere in South America or South-East Asia b4 the 2010 WC... THATS PURE IGNORANCE AND STUPIDITY.

      TaniaSandraSteyn - 2012-03-29 01:09

      Shikes, MC - you've been squared. Admit defeat. I have difficulty keeping up - unless I see "blue" on the map. Er..kulkunweni? A case of one-upmanship that is confusing the Nation and our visitors. Cheap shots that cost our country dearly. Why rename when you can build and name?

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-29 08:53

      @Msika - arguing with people clearly as dumb as you is rather difficult i must admit. I jokingly say that I’ve learnt something new today (or yesterday just in case you get confused) & you bring up American ignorance as to the whereabouts of South Africa before the world cup...?? LOL!!! thanks for that :-) i enjoy a good laugh to get my day going!

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-29 09:09

      @Tanya - im at the point of admitting defeat :-) i'm battling to keep up with this one too lol!

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-29 09:17

      @Msika - not to harp on, but its jaYson... if you're going to passionately defend someone, at least get their name right.

      E=MC2 - 2012-03-29 11:33

      hahaha!!! "Jason came to ur rescue" i just read that now hahahaha!! :-)!

    WHAT REALLY HAPPENED @ THE DIVORCE CASE ....... " What do mean you want my ceramic garden frog?. It was a gift from my mother.... Here take a bullet for free... Damm this would have been easier, if I wasn't 'cock-eyed' " seriously did it become a "murder-suicide" if the article does not mention what happened to the gun-man. are we to fill in the blanks like in many of your sadly reported articles?

  • Lance - 2012-03-29 12:35

    @ Alicia...Sad comments indeed, but hey,this is sunny SA and if people dont deal with this kind of violence in their own (un)acceptable way then shrinks will all be on retirement by 35 with huge bank balances..alternatively you might find those making chirpy comments loosing their marbles and doing something to hurt themselves. Sad indeed, RIP
