2011-06-09 11:32

Pretoria - Motorists were urged to avoid the Pretoria central business district on Thursday as Tshwane Metro Police closed it off ahead of a memorial service for the late Albertina Sisulu.

Tshwane Metro spokesperson Alta Fourie said police officers had started closing off streets shortly after 09:00 and they were expected to stay closed until 18:00.

The memorial service, due to start at 14:00, was expected to draw large crowds, including parliamentarians.

Sisulu, who was married to former African National Congress deputy president Walter Sisulu, died at her home in Linden in Johannesburg last Thursday at the age of 92.

Fourie said streets would be closed off at the following intersections: Visagie and Andries streets; Jacob Marais and Paul Kruger streets; Skinner and Paul Kruger streets; Visagie and Paul Kruger streets; Bosman and Visagie streets; Minnaar and Paul Kruger streets; and Minnaar and Bosman streets.

      Oppressor - 2011-06-09 12:31

@mz.maseko I dont think I belong here either seen as I am intelligent, educated, hard working and productive. I belong in a 1st world country.

      lebaone - 2011-06-09 13:59

Honestly man, is it out of the bounds of possibility that you can put your prejudice aside and show some respect for those that have passed on?

      ProMalema100 - 2011-06-09 14:11

@oppressor...then what are you still waiting for?

      Oppressor - 2011-06-09 16:04

      USSA - 2011-06-11 19:21

      mz.maseko - 2011-06-09 12:27

Newscrawler, she is not just another citizen but a mother of the nation. Please change ur attitude and become part of the dermocratic society.

      Malamulel - 2011-06-09 12:30

@ newscrawler, u're right she was like anyone of us but the sacrifice she made I don't think u can nearly try it, ask NP members they'll expalin in details those sacrifices. rest in peace Mama Sisulu,

      GDR - 2011-06-09 12:35

She is not and will never be my mother.

      Ak - 2011-06-09 12:42

      Threelions23 - 2011-06-09 12:54

@AK - I love how you generalize go and take a deep long look in the mirror and ask yourself if saying statements like that is not Racist BTW the definition is: Discrimination or prejudice based on race. You are the creators of your own worst enemies…

      Totman - 2011-06-09 12:55

Newscrawler is just trying to stir. Just ignore it. It is definitely not good taste to stir on a topic like this.

      Enigma - 2011-06-09 13:52

@oppressor from what I understand 4rm your comments is that you are full of anger. Perhaps your parents never raised or paid attention to you, so this is the place where you can trash everything and everyone. I see signs of abuse in your child hood. You really need help my friend or motherly love.

      philani.goba - 2011-06-09 14:14

I wonder you guys got the racial argument. this is merely a report about a road closure. personally I'm just tired of reading the same ish over and over..its clear..we're a faded raimbow nation, now its either we fix that or we carry on insulting each other..its just as your country as it is mine.

      Ak - 2011-06-09 14:27

Philani continue reading comments on this site, you would swear that 80-90% of the readers are definetely not black people from what they write. I dont see an end to racism since I got to know this site, jus the understanding of how others feel about the happenings around.

      ProMalema100 - 2011-06-09 14:43

You are cowards and want us Black people to trust you, yet you have your own agenda's....let the ANC run this coutry down...we do not long as no WHITE Man will ever rule this country is no longer about moving forward positively as a country but, personal and emotional deliberate irrational are the biggest RACISTS however you have no Balls to say so. We know you hate Blacks that is why 63% of the population did the right thing in the past local elections. there will never be integration in this country, because some people are two faced fu$^#s, we know how you feel about us, hence you marginalised us in the first place.

      Oppressor - 2011-06-09 15:59

@ProMalema My agenda is to wait for you lot to die of AIDS or starvation under ANC rule. Then rule again.

  • Malamulel - 2011-06-09 13:29

@ GDR culturaly a mother is not the only one who carries u 9 months, get away from Westen culture this is Africa.

      Oppressor - 2011-06-09 16:00

Then get rid of your stolen western computer.

  • TheSteve - 2011-06-09 13:46

The question is not whether Mama Sisula was a Mother to the nation, nor if she was a good person, these are to any reasonable person (I.e. One who actually reads up on the subject) a given fact. Just like Mandela they tried to change the situation so all people could prosper in land of plenty. The question people, is what is the current fat cats in the ANC doing with this lecacy .... I think just like there friend Mugubwe in Zim they are enriching themsleves. We are in a new struggle, the struggle to ensure that all people in SA have the opertunity to prosper in SA, not from Hand Outs, but from good old fashioned work.

      tryanything - 2011-06-11 19:12

The Sisulus and the Mandelas are in short supply........You wont see this bit of quality again people....Not with malemas around...

  • Lizira - 2011-06-09 14:32

Oh, for Pete's sake! And yet again there are imbeciles bringing race into the picture. It's due to statements like these that our country will never dig its way through the vomit and spit of closed-minded individuals such as Oppressor and Newscrawler.

      Oppressor - 2011-06-09 16:03

Close -minded? Does 3000 murdered farmers mean anything to you? Or can your 2 brain cells not comprehend what is actually going on in this country?

      Lizira - 2011-06-09 18:26

Oh, I am aware of the things that are wrong in this country. But unlike you I try to focus on the good things this country has to offer. Now please, use your two brain cells and try to pose a convincing argument - your personal attacks mean nothing and comes across as somewhat infantile.

      tryanything - 2011-06-11 19:13
