Johannesburg - The family of slain Reiger Park toddler Cuburne van Wyk hope the case against a man accused of his murder will proceed in court on Monday following previous postponements.

"Something must happen today. They must at least tell us that we are going to the high court," said Leann Plaatjies, Cuburne's aunt, on behalf of the family.

She said constant postponements were unbearable as they kept the family in suspense.

"Justice must be served. We want a closure on this matter."

Nathaniel Katlego Mpoku is expected to appear later on Monday in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on the East Rand.
He is accused of killing Van Wyk, three, in Reiger Park, Boksburg, last August. The child's body was found at a mine dump days after he went missing.

"Chicken [Mpoku] must talk. He is the last person seen with Cuburne," said Plaatjies, who with other family members wore T-shirts bearing a likeness of the child.
