Speedster bust doing 225km/h on N1

Johannesburg - The driver of a white Volkswagen Golf GTI has been arrested for driving 225km/h in a 120km zone on the N1 in Midrand, Johannesburg metro police said on Wednesday.

"He will appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court with seven others arrested at the same place [on Tuesday]," Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

Another man was arrested on the N1 south near the 14th Avenue offramp in Roodepoort for driving at 172km/h, also on Tuesday.

The man was riding a black BMW motorcycle without licence plates at the time.

He would appear in Roodepoort Magistrate's Court along with nine others held for speeding on the same stretch of highway.
