State: Griekwastad boy a danger to others

Johannesburg - The State has appealed against the bail of R5 000 granted to a 16-year-old boy accused of murdering a Griekwastad family on April 6, it was reported on Tuesday.

The National Prosecuting Authority appealed to the Northern Cape High Court on Monday to overturn the bail granted to the boy by the Griekwastad Magistrate's Court on September 3, Beeld newspaper reported.

The State alleged that he could pose a danger to others, and argued that the magistrate who made the finding on bail had underemphasised the violence contained in the charges and had overemphasised the boy's interests.

However, the boy's lawyer, Susan Erasmus, told the court he had not been officially charged yet, and there was still a chance he could be innocent.

Judgment was reserved.

Off course he is a danger to others. If you are a danger to your own parents and sister, then surely you will not hesitate to kill others.

Must the boy kill again for the judge to realise that this youngman is dangerous?

He managed to lie his way out of it initially, and carried on with life for those couple of weeks, I would question the theory "he's not a danger'
