State appeals bail for Griekwastad accused

2012-09-17 12:35

Bloemfontein - The State has filed an application for leave to appeal against the bail granted to a 16-year-old boy in the Griekwastad farm murders case, Volksblad reported on Monday.

State prosecutor JJ Cloete contends that the magistrate erred in his finding that the boy was not dangerous to those around him.

The appeal hearing would be heard in the Northern Cape High Court on 27 September 2012, the newspaper reported.

In his motion of notice, Cloete said that during his bail application, the boy gave no indication whether he was innocent and that he lied to the police.

The State contends it has a strong case against him.

Cloete submitted that the magistrate had underemphasised the alleged violence contained in the charges and had overemphasised the boy's interests.

There is a school on the premises at the Galeshewe Place of Safety in Kimberley where this boy was detained before he was given bail! Schooling should be the least of this boy's worries!

Let's just hope that there is no "mess up" with evidence and that all the correct procedures were followed in this matter!! It is as if he has not remorse for what he did . . . then he must tried as an adult and get what is coming to him.

He should never have been granted bail. He is a danger and these people looking after him are in it for the pubilicity. I dont trusted him, tooo full of himself.

If he could murder 3 people in cold blood, pick up the guns, go to the Police Station and report the deaths, then this so called BOY is definitely a dangerous person.
