Mbombela - There have still not been any arrests in the murder of a 30-year-old woman who was shot dead by robbers at a Limpopo game farm at the weekend.

Melinda Lee Bam, 30, was killed in her bed at the Bonlati Lodge outside Tzaneen where she was spending the weekend with her boyfriend, her daughter and his children, reported Beeld.

Only a week ago, the Nelspruit mom had put pictures of herself and Francois Visagie, 40, up on her Facebook page under the heading “new beginnings”.

Visagie, 40, was shot in the leg during the attack and admitted to hospital.

Bam and Visagie had been on the hunting farm for the weekend, Rapport said on Sunday.

WP Visagie said his brother had tried to protect Lee Bam when the robbers started firing at them and was tied up by the armed men.

“Francois is very sad. They were very much in love. They had only been together for four months and were planning to marry at the end of the year.”

Lee Bam’s 10-year-old daughter, Visagie’s three sons and a 15-year-old exchange student apparently locked themselves in another room during the shooting.

The gang fled with a cellphone and money.

Police were investigating but have not arrested anyone yet.
