Strange SMS after Kovsie goes missing

2012-11-16 08:37

Bloemfontein - The family of a missing Bloemfontein student fears the worst after receiving a strange SMS from his phone saying: “He died in peace.”

The full message was: “We are finished with the boy and you will never find out where he is. He died in peace. We only wanted money.”

It was sent to a female friend following the disappearance of Thabiso Moholoholo, 21, reported Volksblad.

Moholoholo, who was a second-year B.Sc enviromental geography student, went missing on 9 October on his way to the library.

He has not been seen again since. There had apparently been no ransom demand or any previous message from those who might have taken him.

The student’s father, Jacob Moholoholo, spoke about his worry for his son.

“He worked so hard to make something of himself. I just want him back. My heart is sore. I don’t sleep at night and life is hard.”

Private investigator Leon Rossouw said everything pointed to a crime having been committed.

“According to his roommate and friends he didn’t miss classes, tests or exams. He regularly called his father and didn’t have a history of running away,” said Rossouw.

Police confirmed investigating the student’s disappearance. Anyone with information was asked to call Rossouw on 083 410 0900 or the investigating officer on 082 925 5724.

Siek.

Oh dear this is so sad, I truly hope you find him alive and well. The experts do have a way of tracking a cell phone no matter who has it. so in that I hope they catch the culprits, but hpe against hope it's a case which has a happy ending.

  • theMichaelHawthorne - 2012-11-16 09:10

They could have caught the criminals already by checking with the network operator they can at least determine from which cell tower the sms was sent...

  • tobydt - 2012-11-16 09:14

Just when you think your child is going to be twice as better as you turned out to be and now this. The sick animals that people are never ceases to amaze me. We are the lowest form of animalism and we are poor at it. Our form of animalism is weak and senseless that we outdo all other animals on this planet. We sue are one sick society, South Africa or otherwise.

Can't the location from where the message was sent be traced? Remember that father who faked his disappearance and smsed his daughter? The location of where it was sent was traced or something I can't quite remember. But I know it is possible.

  • Moi - 2012-11-16 09:22

So heartbreaking to not know where your child is or what has happened to him. :(

  • sunith.varkey - 2012-11-16 09:33

And just a few years ago Bloem was safe. I used to study there and walk back from the library late at night alone.

  • facts.peter - 2012-11-16 09:47

Mr Moholoholo, it is sad to hear of your circumstances. It sounds as if you have great kid. As a father myself something like this must be unbearable. I really hope it works out all well though.

This is ridiculous, a kid just trying to better himself and then this happens. This government needs to get their fingers out their a$$ and realise that they are not bettering our beautiful country. Hope he is found and all is well

  • gail.hayesbean - 2012-11-17 15:11

Sad so sad for his family and he was a smart guy too studying BSc Geog. These are the people our country so desperately needs. Why must they kill him for his money and phone? Please people tell your children you love them more than the cost of a new phone or any money. If someone wants their things just let them have them.

  • adelaide.s.lepman - 2012-11-30 08:22

The fact that they got what they wanted.why kill him?
