Johannesburg - A suspect believed to have been involved in the kidnapping and strangulation of a Tsakane female teacher, was arrested by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team on Sunday. The teacher’s body was found in an unused toilet at an empty stand in Tsakane last Saturday morning.

“The 26-year-old suspect was arrested at what he claimed to be his house in Mayfield Extension 08, Daveyton.

The suspect was found busy packing clothing into bags claiming that he is relocating to Johannesburg as he was being threatened about a murder he had no knowledge of,” said EMPD spokesperson chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago.

“On perusal of the records at the police station, it emerged that there was a warrant of arrest out for him for possession of an illegal firearm as he had failed to appear in court on Friday,” Kgasago said.

“More informants with evidence point to the suspect’s possible involvement in the murder case.

He has been detained at Tsakane police station on charges of kidnapping and murder.
