Johannesburg - A man linked to seven rape cases through his DNA was arrested in Sundumbili on Tuesday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The rapes were committed between 2008 and 2012 in the greater Durban and KwaDukuza areas, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

In some cases, the women were threatened with a bush knife.

In another, two women were having a bath when a man entered their house through a window.

"He allegedly threatened the two victims and forced them to go with him to the nearby bushes, where he raped both of them," said Zwane.

The 34-year-old man is due to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court soon.
