Suspected cable thief shocked on West Rand

Johannesburg - A suspected cable thief suffered a serious electrical shock on Thursday at a power substation in Florida on the West Rand, Johannesburg emergency workers said.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said the man was in a critical condition.

"Paramedics arrived on the scene and found the man lying on the ground with multiple burns to his body."

The man was stabilised on the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital.

Police were investigating.

      Seriously Clifford? I bet you will change your tune very fast when you are affected by no electricity due to cable theft. Theft is a crime and what you are saying is that crime is ok because people are struggling.

    Don't these people learn? Why don't they go and steal the e-toll gates, rather. They would get more money for the steel scrap than stealing the copper power cables.
