Suspected thief stoned in Cape Town

2012-10-08 11:18

Cape Town - A suspected thief was stoned to death in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, according to a report on Monday.

The Cape Argus reported that the man's body was found in Kuyasa's School Site around 09:00 on Sunday.

The man was found lying in the road with two cement blocks next to him.

The killing brings to 17 the number of alleged criminals killed by a mob in Khayelitsha in the last year.

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille established a commission of inquiry earlier this year to investigate an alleged relationship breakdown between police and the community.

Public hearings would be held at the end of this month.
