Mthatha - Eastern Cape police are searching for the murderers of two people whose bodies were found at the Mthatha Dam on Sunday evening.

Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said the bodies of Jacquil Miller, 19, and Carl George, 20, had been recovered at the dam by the Saps K9 Search and Rescue team shortly after 18:30.

He said the bodies had been spotted by a community member who then notified the police. The two men were last seen on Saturday.

“The vehicle belonging to one of the victims was found at Kwa-Link, a nearby village, but neither man resided at that village,” he said.

Fatyela said the circumstances surrounding the deaths were currently under investigation and at this stage police could not speculate on the motive for their murders.

He said the preliminary investigation indicated that both George and Miller had bruises to their upper bodies, but that there were no visible wounds.

The postmortem - expected to be held either on Monday or Tuesday - will indicate the cause of death and further assist investigators with their investigation, he said.
