Johannesburg - Morne Harmse was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by the South Gauteng High Court on Thursday for the killing of a schoolboy with a sword.

Judge Phillip Hattingh said he was sentenced to 18 years for the killing of Jacques Pretorius, 16, eight years for injuring Gert Jacobs, with six of these to run concurrently, and five years each for injuring two school employees.

Harmse, who was aged 18 at the time of the crime, had pleaded guilty to slashing Pretorius to death on their school grounds last August.
