Johannesburg - A taxi driver was arrested for murder after a passenger was fatally stabbed, Northern Cape police said on Monday.

The two had an argument before the passenger boarded the man's Kimberley-bound taxi in Motswedimotsa, Ritchie, on Saturday, police spokesperson Andrea Cloete said.

The driver allegedly tried to attack the passenger as he was driving.

"[When the taxi stopped] the man, who was sitting in the front seat of the taxi tried to lock his passenger side because he could see that the taxi driver wanted to stab him, but the taxi driver opened the sliding door and stabbed the man twice in the chest."

The man then made his way out of the taxi and died on the side of the road.

There were other passengers on board.

The driver allegedly fled the scene, but was later arrested.

He was expected to appear in court soon to face charges of murder, and reckless or negligent driving.

Its AMAZING how people think they can "resolve" a verbal dispute in this manor instead of being "man"/responsible enough to discuss & come to an amicable peaceful non threatening/physically harmful solution - if the two parties can not handle the situation, it takes a courageous, big, strong & responsible person which is called an adult to call for mediation (objective 3rd party) to resolve so that both disputing parties can agree the way forward - violence is a sign of extreme weakness in character & not a strong character which we call men or adults
