2012-11-02 14:08

Durban - A taxi owner accused of kidnapping and murdering Inkatha Freedom Party councillor Themba Xulu appeared in the Durban Regional Court on Friday.

The case against Sanele Zondi, 34, was postponed to 7 November for a formal bail hearing.

The court was packed to capacity, with a heavy police presence inside the building and access strictly controlled.

Zondi was arrested last weekend.

Xulu was abducted from his home in KwaMashu's A-Section on 5 October, allegedly by five men posing as policemen.

His body was found two days later in the eTafulene area, near Durban.

At the time, Colonel Jay Naicker said people collecting mushrooms discovered the corpse and alerted the police.

Xulu's body had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was starting to decompose.
