Johannesburg - A minibus taxi without a windscreen and headlights was impounded in the North West on Wednesday.

Provincial Public Safety MEC Nono Maloyi said the vehicle appeared to have been involved in a head-on collision, was never repaired, but kept on being used.

"The state of this minibus taxi is shocking. Our people's lives are in danger."

The taxi was impounded near Klerksdorp while ferrying passengers from Ottosdal to Johannesburg.

      procold2 - 2012-06-28 10:06

      zambezi.river - 2012-06-28 10:28

  • patrick.makgeledise - 2012-06-28 09:25

Taxi owners the only thing they care about is money, money n money. About passengers that uses their taxis evryday to n frm wrk, its not their business. As long as the engine can run, its on the road F**k them. - 2012-06-28 10:30

the leaders of the country are also the same type of people as the taxi drivers. and you know what? seems they also just care about money, money , money !!he he lmfwao

  • Ndongz - 2012-06-28 09:26

I bet it was safe cause it didn't speed and when it collides there's no windscreen to bump your forehead on...

      daryltt - 2012-06-28 09:52

And if the other taxi that it will collide with has no rear window, you automatically become a passenger of that taxi.

  • d4zza - 2012-06-28 09:26

How many road blocks/policemen did this taxi go through and pay in bribes before someone finally stopped it?

  • Peter - 2012-06-28 09:39

The taxi was impounded by the only cop who would NOT take a bribe

      Ntuthuko M Simelane - 2012-06-28 10:09

      Peter - 2012-06-28 10:17

Yup, all the other cops let the taxi go as due gratification was given. - 2012-06-28 10:32

@Ntuthuko M Simelane-yes you buy them lunch, they let you go. We all know how it works. The bigger the fine, the bigger the lunch money he he

  • victor.windsor - 2012-06-28 09:43

The taxi should be scrapped and squashed into a block, that is the only way to ensure that it never appears on the road again !!!!!!!

  • chris.kleynhans - 2012-06-28 10:06

Yes, this is news and maybe the situation is improving after the Traffic Departments started to take action, but I see Taxi's in horrible states almost on a daily basis! Recently it was very funny in my town to see how the taxis were zigzagging through the smaller inner town streets when the traffic cops were pulling them off on the highway off ramps. They are networking and trust the traffic department to be dynamic enough to take action....You must be joking (Too)

  • makopo.senyolo - 2012-06-28 11:47

yes u no this taxi drivers are useless most of taxi drivers they dnt hav licence expecially dat one frm ivory park 2 Ranburg they travel 160per hour

Can you Guys go to KZN?

  • skootzie - 2012-06-28 13:04

    Impound that windscreen! *grammar nazi*

  • Brilliant Sibisi - 2012-06-28 13:26

The passengers should also be fined! Bloody ignorant a$$holes!

  • antin.herinck - 2012-06-28 15:37

What's wrong with those cops? This happened during the day, so no need for lights. There was no wind, so what do I need a windscreen for? I almost never brake, but surely those stupid cops will have a prob with me having no brake lights also.

  • John - 2012-06-29 00:07

COPS, get your attention on real crime. Try to SERVE and PROTECT the PRIVATE people. Did you fail to collect your bribe. This guy in his skedonk did not need lights in the day. If he does not like a windscreen he probably needs fresh air. Why do you not impound ALL motorcycles for having no wind screen. How about all animal drawn vehicles. Do you own a share of a glass fitting business? You do not need a windscreen for your vehicle to be roadworthy.

  • John - 2012-06-29 00:16

Why pick on your fellow human beings by impounding his poor innocent windscreen? Get murderers robbers thieves rapists. Read the ten commandments and you might get the support of the PRIVATE people. You are a thug and a bully interfering with the SOVEREIGN rights of others.
