Teacher fired over penis piercing

2013-10-30 09:11

Johannesburg - The Gauteng education department welcomed a decision by a high school in Pretoria to fire a teacher who allegedly took pupils to have their penises pierced.

"No school or teacher is allowed to do that, we welcome the decision by the school governing body to fire him," said spokesperson Gershwin Chuenyane on Wednesday.

Eyewitness News reported earlier that the teacher had faced a disciplinary hearing and was notified about his dismissal last week.

The teacher reportedly took three teenage boys for piercing. He also reportedly had his own penis pierced in front of the pupils and gave the boys penis-shaped pasta.

The teacher was also reportedly a member of a well-known Afrikaans folk group.

    Ha, WTF?

      Doep Briel - 2013-10-30 11:12

      LOL, I found it!

      Erich Goosen - 2013-10-30 11:42

This matter has been reported out of context. The learners studied Metallurgy and were requested by the teacher to do a practical assignment. Three words of caution, however. Firstly delays at the metal detectors at airports. Secondly avoid strong electro magnates as it could change your route and thirdly, avoid sunbathing at Sandy Bay when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees C as you would require more than a suntan lotion.

      HenriLeRiche - 2013-10-31 11:21

Bet you this teacher is the typical "liberal" that love self-flagellation....(self-hate) Talking openly about sexual organs and piercings as it is seen as "open mindedness". (There are limits....but some people just don't get it even in the workplace) You will find it is guys like this teacher who usually talk of "right wingers", and throw the "racist" cliché around, with a self-hate attitude to go with it. By bad-mouthing their Afrikaner culture and history, they think it will make them more socially acceptable as "liberals", and look the part.... All I can say is, we know this type....Lots around.

  • Zukisa Zukx Mantshi - 2013-10-30 09:19

    What a pervert!

      Frik Vermeulen - 2013-10-30 09:25

I can say that I suspect fowl play because the teacher was maybe just wanting to look and maybe touch the boys. This is not right.

      Compos Mentis - 2013-10-30 09:45

Frik, playing with fowls????? How disgusting!!

      Kerri- Lee Barlow - 2013-10-30 09:49

Maybe but maybe he's just one of those idiots who tries to be the kids friends and be the cool teacher. Either way he has no right to be in the postion he is in and gives us all a bad name. Moron

      Rodger Synclair - 2013-10-30 21:19

Yes I agree. But this also sounds like a predator; priming his prey for the kill (although I think the kill would be penis related).

  • Letlotlo Sephapo Malope - 2013-10-30 09:20

Dear News24, unless the ''Afrikaans folk group'' was somehow responsible for the teacher's actions, was it necessary to mention his membership? Or were you just trying to stir up racial divisions?

      Sibongile Mkhatshwa - 2013-10-30 09:23

      My thought exactly.

      Lisa Van Staden - 2013-10-30 09:25

My thoughts exactly!!! Why bring that up!! So next time a child is murdered and raped the reporter must remember to state the religeon and political party they belong to.

      AntikZa - 2013-10-30 09:25

      Well said Letlotlo

      Frik Vermeulen - 2013-10-30 09:25

This is a true statement. It is news sensational that is the problem

      Compos Mentis - 2013-10-30 09:26

Maybe they are called "Die singende totties".

      Peter Zylstra - 2013-10-30 09:32

being a member of an Afrikaans folk group has absolutely no relevance to this matter. Obviously News 24 likes to stir up racial tensions. Never before when a baby was raped and the perpetrator was a member of black teachers organisation or some similar black grouping, was it mentioned. This type of reporting is frowned upon and treated with the utmost contempt it deserves!

      Pinky Zuma - 2013-10-30 09:38

Yebo baba, they like to stir the pot. Just ignore it.

      Hazel van Schalkwyk - 2013-10-30 10:34

they do the same with islam and muslims, no-one complains about it then

      Mary Couster - 2013-10-30 12:00

Although it's quite funny to imagine the Huisgenoot newsroom now in overdrive to find out which Afrikaans folk group it is ;-)

      Dirk Lourens - 2013-10-30 12:08

I agree. We really do not need all this recism and race based bickering!

      Rodger Synclair - 2013-10-30 21:38

Stereo typing or not? I think so.... There is more than one race in RSA that are "Afrikaans folk group". So, narrowing this would imply white, or colored. Or even those black folk who were taught; and endlessly speak afrikaans. And the list grows....

      Mike Bundy - 2013-10-31 07:58

Sorry Rodger but you are stretching now. When you mention "Afrikaans folk group" then a particular image will come to mind in the average person. Precisely as this divisive article intended.

  • Eric Payi - 2013-10-30 09:23

Teachers have gone wrong in 2013 hey.

  • Fatty Boom Boom - 2013-10-30 09:25

  • Danny Mothilall Danny - 2013-10-30 09:28

Are we really living in a sick society-Wonder if he has done this weird thing to his own sons,if he has any sons? It is so disgusting in that he should be setting a good example, did he perhaps get a Masters Degree in PENIS PIERCING and if so ,from which educational institution? He is sick and needs a Psychologist to examine him.

      Rodger Synclair - 2013-10-30 21:42

Lets hope he doesn't convince the Psychologist to also pierce his penis....

  • Andre Van Deventer - 2013-10-30 09:29

Strange that News 24 just had to add the bit about being a member of an Afrikaans folk group. If he were a Black would they also have said that he was a member of a Zulu/ Xhosa/ Sesotho folk group? Methinks not!

      Frik Vermeulen - 2013-10-30 09:34

Hulle se did nooit nie. Ek sien lekker

      Thandi Ndlovu - 2013-10-30 10:26

This was uncalled for,the focus should be on the incident and the fact that parents put their trust on teachers, nothing else

  • Zang Annette - 2013-10-30 09:30

    sic sic sic

  • Neil Moodley - 2013-10-30 09:30

What next ?? I like how they snuck in "reportedly a member of a well-known Afrikaans folk group"

  • MSGRules - 2013-10-30 09:36

way too many allegedly/reportedly and then the clinker...why was this added..."The teacher was also reportedly a member of a well-known Afrikaans folk group." thanks News24 for blowing racial fires!!!

      Ikgopoleng Milly Chirwa - 2013-10-30 09:50

I find the last statement by news24 quite unnecessary too... Mxm

  • Michael B da Silva - 2013-10-30 09:37

okay then... Now that is just wrong on sooooo many levels. What a chop!

  • Craig Allen Salter - 2013-10-30 09:38

The government has failed the people the education system is collapsing

      Rodger Synclair - 2013-10-30 21:51

Now let's talk about this education system failing? The education is there (thanks to the efforts of teachers). But children killing each other at school is something that the adult society should be seriously worried about. In fact, I hold the view that when adutl laws are broken, then the law should apply equally to minors and adults (especially when murder, rape and aggrivated assult is relevant). Why send these children to the custody of their parents (who can be killed by the same child while they are sleeping). Sorry. Just an alternative view to your comment,Craig.

  • Thoka Mphoka - 2013-10-30 09:38

what else did he teach them?

      Mike Bundy - 2013-10-31 08:05

  • Brett Shelton - 2013-10-30 09:39

What is the matter with these people. You know something like that is going to get you in trouble and yet you carry on as if there is no tomorrow ?!

  • Tania Snyman - 2013-10-30 09:40

News24, seriously. What is your problem?? What does the fact, that he is reportedly part of an Afrikaans folk group, have ANYTHING to do with the story? This is creating hype and diversity. Stereotyping people is NOT ON. You know the effect it has on some trigger-happy people, so stop doing it!

      Hazel van Schalkwyk - 2013-10-30 10:38

they do this all the time, funny you only noticing it now

  • Hemlock - 2013-10-30 09:45

What a pervert! Our kids go to school to be educated and this is hardly education, it appalling what happens within our schools. This jerk must be punished!

  • Mpilo Stone Mkhonto - 2013-10-30 09:47

This not about race or anything i seriously don't care his white, black nor green all am saying its wrong of teachers not knowing their real cause of their job title. This are some of the stories that could be avoided I mean how sickening is this story? The number of drop outs will increase due to stupid people who are driven by foolishness. Signed Stone.

  • Mary Couster - 2013-10-30 09:49

I swear you can't make this stuff up. Member of a well known Afrikaans folk group?? Obviously had different plans for his member..

  • Lize Pieterse - 2013-10-30 09:49

Bonus points for attempt at sensationalism, NEWS24. Who cares if he is a member of a well know Afrikaans folkgroup? He was put in a position of trust and he broke that trust with his despicable behaviour. Good riddance!!!! Wouldn't want him anywhere near my child.

  • Emily-Jane Elson - 2013-10-30 09:49

    OMG! Ha ha ha Wtf??

@Frik: Atheist agenda? What on Earth are you blathering about? Tell us about this agenda, I beg you.

  • Danie Nilsen - 2013-10-30 09:52

Just fired? Shouldn't that be a jail able offence? It scares me to think of the stuff we don't know about. Deport this sex predator back to hell, I think that's where he escaped from

      Danie Nilsen - 2013-10-30 10:01

I said it should be jail able offence not that it is one...and are you ok with teachers doing that?

      Mike Bundy - 2013-10-31 08:10

@Kensong: Exposing private parts to schoolboys is a sexual offense I believe.

  • Colin Traumatizer Zungu - 2013-10-30 09:53

The boys had a right to say no but didn't therefore all of them should be disciplined. He didn't force them.Anyway let's hope next time he will take them for cicurmcision and see if he will still be fired.

  • Quinten Armstrong - 2013-10-30 09:56

"No school or teacher is allowed to do that, we welcome the decision by the school governing body to fire him," Duh!!! Now give me something useful like convince me that it's safe for my children in public with predators like this running free.

  • Danie Nilsen - 2013-10-30 09:57

@Colin Zungu. Children look up to teachers because they are the authority figure at school. How can you say it's the children's you have a piercing?

  • Jack Tig - 2013-10-30 09:58

Romans 1:26-27 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

      Frik Vermeulen - 2013-10-30 10:07

This is some hard facts on the matter. Eish!

  • Zenande Dlamini Maka Mphile - 2013-10-30 10:25

Maybe there's more things he's been doing with the boys that haven't come to light.

  • Renier Pienaar - 2013-10-30 10:26

The fact that this teacher belongs to an Afrikaaner organization is totally unrelated to this story so why did the News 24 journalist think it necessary to highlight it? Do he or she insinuate that if you are Afrikaans that you are a pedophile? When innocent men, women and children are raped and murdered in their own homes or when babies are raped to cure aids, no mention is ever made about the race of the offenders so why do you do it when a white person, especially if its a Afrikaans white person is the offender? Kindly take your racist hate and stick it where the sun don't shine!

      Zakhele S. Mngadi - 2013-10-30 11:03

  • Kerri- Lee Barlow - 2013-10-30 14:01

Should he get fired most definately yes. As a teacher you are in a position of authority. Not only going without parental consent but teaching teenagers its ok is not on. As for being a pervert and gay? I know many straight men and women with piercing down there. He's probably one of those idiot teachers who's trying be cool and show the kids he's one of them by also being a rebel. What an idiot.

  • Sibongiseni Ndlangalavu - 2013-10-30 14:02
