Boy stabbed to death, body parts removed

2012-01-01 22:00

Bloemfontein - A teenager was stabbed to death in Thaba'Nchu in the Free State early on New Year's morning and found with body parts missing.

Police spokesperson Constable Consolation Mokoale said on Sunday that police had arrested two other teenagers, aged 17 and 19.

The victim, 17, and the other two had been drinking at a tavern when an argument broke out.

The two teenagers will appear in the Selosesha Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Selosesha Station Commander, Colonel Pule Sekese condemned the "barbaric killing".

What is becoming of this country...

      Squeegee - 2012-01-02 08:23

We have returned to the dark ages. Values are not taught, children do as they please, we have reintroduced a medical system which requires human body parts, - must I go on?

      Anthony - 2012-01-02 09:07

      one word culture

      Sharkshoot - 2012-01-02 09:37

They're a lovely lot aren't they. Abolishing the death penalty has been the best thing for this Godless country...

  • Johan Britz - 2012-01-01 22:56

Barbaric savages. Africa boet, deep dark Africa.

  • Gordon - 2012-01-01 23:08

Can we please bring back the death sentence, pleez, we are in deep, deep trouble in SA,things are really getting out of control.

      Juan - 2012-01-02 04:08

We need a justice system on steroids with all this stuff going on

      jaap.kotze - 2012-01-02 08:17

The death penalty will not make a differance. Most of these offenders do not posses the ability to anticipate the consequence of their deeds

  • Brenda - 2012-01-01 23:39

There are times I am totally ashamed to admit I am South African. In the last month alone, South Africans have committed such disgusting crimes, I shudder to think what the rest of the world must be thinking of us. Can someone please stand up and have the guts to consider reintroducing the death penalty. And before the criminal rights champions start bleating that it does not serve as a preventative measure allow me to say that it actually does, simply because people who are put to death will never have the chance to become repeat offenders, as is SO often the case!!

      Braam - 2012-01-02 00:57

BRENDA I'm proud to be a WHITE South African, what seems to be the problem dear?......

      Juan - 2012-01-02 04:10

@brenda we are a very diverse society. We have the scum of the earth, but on the other hand truly remarkable people as well who makes us proud

      Sharkshoot - 2012-01-02 11:12

I was watching "Border Security" on DSTV a few days ago and the Aussie Customs guys got a DHL package from South Africa...and the Aussies have now learnt to red flag everything coming in from South Africa....well true as nuts, the package was screened and found to contain heroin. Another Proudly South African moment.

\\\\\\\\\\\african medics in training - its in their culture

      lungi.tatti1 - 2012-01-02 00:30

Definately not in my culture..lm a law abiding South African, Hope it was not part of your culture to kill and maim defenseless South Africans not so long ago. There are evil people out there and they do not define who I am. Making sweeping statements wont help alleviate violent crimes in our beloved country.

      Anthony - 2012-01-02 09:09

zuma must be proud of his culture

      Chum Scrubber - 2012-01-02 09:14

Black people with political clout need to condemn the belief in witchcraft. Unfortunately they won't, as it will be seen as insulting black culture. They stick to populist rhetoric, those who have the ears of the people, thats the problem.

      Rob - 2012-01-02 10:13

Sifiso: Unlike religion, which very occasionally has the capacity for good, Nationalism is always pervasively divisive and destructive. Why, bevause a nation can only be built by defining and defending boundaries, thus by exclusion and elitism. Europe experienced two massive world wars as well as many smaller, but highly destructive, conflicts, the driving force being nations and nationalism. What this country needs is a SOCIETY that seeks to bind people together, not a nation that excludes.

      Albert - 2012-01-02 07:19

braam ,we are in the situation that we are in because of AH like you.

      Squeegee - 2012-01-02 08:26

People calm down. Braam is a TROLL!! He loves winding people up. The worst thing you can do to him is ignore him completely. Unfortunately, tomorrow he will be back using a different name.

      John - 2012-01-02 08:29

@Braam. Well one thing I know for sure is that we expats over here will never see a prick like you, because you couldn't afford the trip for starters. Put some polish on your chrome dome, who knows it may cultivate the miniscule brain lurking in there.

  • Arnold Hlalele - 2012-01-02 01:55

    This is really disgusting

  • claudette - 2012-01-02 02:09

Is there any day goes by without these horiffic stories, what is really going on in our loving and beatiful South Africa??

  • Markrschulz - 2012-01-02 03:03

    Another innocent muti-lated.

  • Sifiso - 2012-01-02 06:16

Government needs to put much more effort into dispelling myths such as body parts can bring good fortune. Officials need to go into affected communities and distribute myth-busting pamphlets. The pamphlets must contain descriptions in all 11 official languages. The same effort which was put into the recent census needs to be put into the myth-busting initiative I have described above.

  • Silvana - 2012-01-02 06:18

The removal of body parts seems to be a new trend. Obviously the fun has gone out of killing. Next step- mutilate the body. Wonder if the boy was dead or alive when the mutilation took place. The inborn cruelty of some people is just beyond me.

      Albert - 2012-01-02 07:22

I would love to have Malema`s ear. Then i can call him D--S all day long.

      John - 2012-01-02 08:38

Silvana, now that you mention it. The removal of the body parts baffles me, I could understand it if they were older, thinking back on the way that Sangoma's prescribed body parts for various ailments. But these are two teenagers. You are probably right that there is a possibility that the fun has gone out of normal killing.

  • The-Azanian - 2012-01-02 06:49

Just another normal south african day...

  • rhamiid - 2012-01-02 07:19

F&^$ing animals.....go live in the bush

  • Rob - 2012-01-02 08:06

so hardend these days nothing is surprising anymore.....they are just getting younger

  • claudette - 2012-01-02 08:08

You know guys, this is not a comment about this sad story but about this Lunatic BRAAM GUY he's really sick. I am a black women of course and I like white people a lot and I think they are very intelligent and hard working just like us and I guess what am trying to say is that this Braam doesnt think and act like white as he claim he's white and I think its time we dont waste our energy on him because clearly the guy is retarded and I just feel sorry for him. Grow up Braam!!!!

      elmarie.viola - 2012-01-02 08:24

Claudette, he is getting exactly the attention that he so obviously craves....

      Johan - 2012-01-02 08:25

Claudette, may I appologise for Braam and all the people (black and white) that are like him. It is time like-MINDED people in this country stand up and join hands.

      John - 2012-01-02 08:45

Claudette, Hell in these times we don't need a Bigot, Look at Braams Avatar on facebook, it tells the whole story. If he is "white" then I as a whitie want to distance myself as far away from him as possible. We have enough cANCer running this country already.

  • Ndurengo Maxzino Mncwabe - 2012-01-02 08:37

Body part snatching is really getting worse by the day! Damn! 2012 might not be the end, but we're getting there fast!

  • Shirley - 2012-01-02 09:39

There is so much wrong in this story! Firstly what is a 17 year old doing in a tavern. This is another case of savagery and blind belief in "traditional" medicine! When will this pathetic government realise the death penalty is the only solution! They also need to address the "horror" medicinal requirements" traditional healers use!

      Sharon - 2012-01-02 09:54

and to top it all you have a president who runs around threatening the populace with vengance from the spirits of their forefathers if they dont vote for the anc,so i geuss we cant expect much more from all the professor wannabees in the townships

  • Tony - 2012-01-02 10:51

food for thought . these people are considered legal alternative "doctor's" by our goverment. The ANC should send these lost links to Iran for a holiday before they are put on trial .They behead them there . Another thing The country is a haven on earth , the people are inspired by their leader "SATAN"

  • Pixie86 - 2012-01-02 13:46

there's a huge difference between sangomas (who heal with traditional medicines) and witch doctors ( who practise evil wizardry). From what i get these witchdoctors use these body parts to help people who want to get rich and damn it works! They do get rich, but like every evil practise there needs to be a sacrifice! This is plain evil practise- stuff that make an episode in Supernatural!
