2012-02-21 12:17

Bloemfontein - The new commanding officer of the Tempe military base in Bloemfontein has been arrested on assault charges, police said on Tuesday.

Captain Chaka Marope said Brigadier General David Cebeni, 47, was arrested on Sunday afternoon after a complaint was laid at the Park Road police station.

Cebeni appeared in court on Monday and the matter was postponed until April 6.

Marope said charges of common assault and the pointing of a firearm were being investigated against Cebeni. The complaints were laid by a woman.

Volksblad reported on Tuesday that the woman was allegedly a prostitute and that the incident happened after an argument over payment.

A Brigadier General????? What a disgrace!!!

      Francois - 2012-02-21 13:16

Is that how you treat all your wives Philemon? Philemongrel.

      procold2 - 2012-02-21 13:16

you are right but in the old SADF this would not have been taken lightly and he would have been thrown in DB, klaared on, and stripped of rank on the same day.

      JohhnyBGood - 2012-02-21 13:16

Phileeeeeemmoooonnnnnn What rubbish are you spewing !? I guess you do the same to poor women that has the very unfortunate luck to get involved with you ?

      John - 2012-02-21 13:31

@Philemon Besides that you trolling those are moron also.

Good to see that the upper ranks are setting an example to the troops. I suppose raping and pillaging is now part of the training as well.

  • garryf - 2012-02-21 12:59

So typical, put these guys in a position of power and they will abuse it, no different to the SAP.

      Warwick - 2012-02-21 13:08

Rememeber Philemon you backward buffoon. You are suggesting the woman gets beaten until she cant see or speak for a week. This must be black thing, like beating and raping lesbians in the townships.

      Peter - 2012-02-21 13:08

@ Philemon. Where in Garryf's comment is race mentioned. Can you not see beyond your skin? Neary EVERY person in power has abused it to the detriment of the poor, and those in power have benefitted tremendously. They think that they are above the law in EVERY respect.

      Bomb - 2012-02-21 13:09

@Philemon...........are YOU a racist??? Be honest.

      Gordon - 2012-02-21 13:13

Hey Philemon - these guys - the women abusers like YOU. You comment "Next time hit harder so she will not be able to see & speak for a week" above is disgraceful. Someone should have klapped you harder as a kid... at least you would have had a chip on both shoulders. Misogynists LIKE YOU hate a larger % of the population than racists do.

      stephen.pollock1 - 2012-02-21 13:14

Philemon, you make me laugh! Here you are moaning about racism when a few comments above you're advocating extreme violence against women. What a chop!

      DangerousDG - 2012-02-21 13:19

the words 'philemon' and 'think' can only be used in the same sentence when the think is preceded by the word 'cant'

      JohhnyBGood - 2012-02-21 13:19

No he is not, remember, blacks can not be racist, according to our 'beloved' cANCer.

I remember the days when a senior officer was immediately suspended, and even dishonorably discharged from the force even on the mere suggestion of anything like this. But then again, those were the days when discipline still mattered. Its interesting to note how many post-apartheid unit commanders are arrested or locked up for civilian offenses. Something basically unheard of previously. Its all about discipline, or apparent lack of it. And I worked in Tempe for 16 years, so I know what I'm talking about. I left because my affirmative action unit commander fell asleep behind his desk while I was still busy discussing training issues with him along with two other company commanders. To me as a dedicated uniform wearing soldier who believed in the defence force and its pride, that was the biggest disappointment and insult ever. What a disgrace this organization has become. Looking at articles like this, its not surprising.

Philemon, you accuse one person here of being racist while you are so blatantly sexist. "Hit her harder so she will not be able to see and speak for a week"!!!??? Bet you wish woman bashing was a national sport - judging from your attitude and words, it is probably already a favourite past time of yours.

People will get a fright if they knew the state the SANDF is currently in. Basically we have three infantry divisions who are on heavy rotation to the UN on African missions and not a single coherent infantry inside the countries borders due to lack of training, lack of equipment, extremely high incidences of medicaly unfit staff for deployment etc. The SANDF is running on approx less than 10% of what it did pre-1994 Woe the day a protest delivery goes national and the army is called in.

So n swakkeling moes in die eerste plek nie eers so n posisie beklee het nie!

Lees ook 'n bietjie van my BLOG en verpreis asb die storie as jy kan...Suid-Afrika kan net vooruit gaan as ons mekaar staan om al die korup mense uit te skop
