Terre'Blanche's killer gets life

2012-08-22 11:07

Ventersdorp - Chris Mahlangu has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche.

Mahlangu, 29, had pleaded guilty but argued that he acted in self-defence in what the judge found was a violent dispute over wages.

Mahlangu said he feels he did no wrong by ridding the world of a man some called a monster.

The judge had rejected a defence argument that Mahlangu had been sodomised by Terre'Blanche.

A second man, who was a teenager at the time of the killing two years ago, was sentenced on Wednesday to a two-year prison sentence which means he goes free.

Twenty white protesters with an effigy of Mahlangu with a rope around his neck carried a plaque saying: "Hang Mahlangu."

Ok so in other words he will be out in a couple months, specially seeing that he is will suddenly fall "terminally ill"

      Good! Rot.

True! but he has HIV so either way he has a life sentence

      gerald.nchabeleng - 2012-08-22 12:05

not to be racist at all, though personally i feel a sense of justice in the passing of the late Mr Terrible i do feel though it was not up to anyone to meet out his pitiful sentence. While i applaud the courts for this rightful conviction i do lament the sentence that does seem lengthy, esp when you compare it to other sentences for similar crimes...remember the waterkollf 4...the 4 boys who killed a homeless man and beat up another, all for thrills, then some are under house arrest and others are busy having cheese burgers at McD's..poetic justice?

      Desilusionada - 2012-08-22 12:15

Yes Gerald I also feel a sense of justice, but that is another issue. I also believe in justice in an afterlife, also another issue. Point is that it was the decision of our judicial system. Let us at least abide by it, as it seems to be the last bastion of the Law & Order pillars left in society........ The Order one is severely cracked, chipped and in a pi$$poor state of repairs.......

      gerald.nchabeleng - 2012-08-22 12:37

compare their (waterkloof 4) 12 years sentence for murder of one assualt of another to 25 years these guys got,

      nico.smit.1272 - 2012-08-22 12:53

No he will receive the presedentioal pardon, to be release and to kill again like the Charles case.

He is probably terminally ill after being SODOMISED by the AWB leader....

Doug - 2012-08-23 12:27 were you there .. do you have evidence ... or are you just picking a side and throwing rocks at the other. If you have something to say back it up with something. This murderer doesnt deserve your simpathy ... he is an embaressment to the human race .. as was ET

    Too harsh

      squeegee.pilot - 2012-08-22 11:15

So its OK to beat someone to death in his bed. Let's see how you feel when it happens to someone you love. Disrespect for the victim does not take away responsibility...

      Desilusionada - 2012-08-22 11:26

Howard that you may very well say. Surely there is more to the story? A man is dead, (no particular friend of mine, nor do I agree with his legacy), and the judge heard all evidence presented, and made his decision. I just wish that I could at my age get some of the stuff that ET was drinking/smoking or otherwise using. That youngster claims that ET was too strong and raped him 4 times! At his age and he can rape someone 4 times in a row?

Murder is Murder I know its not like that in the african culture but the wolrd is bigger than africa

      chez.kri - 2012-08-22 13:05

@David. The word is "hanged" not hung. You do know that this man was treated worse than the farm animals though? No that does not justify what he did but I can certainly understand his anger at ET. Imagine working for such a racist. It must have been hell.

      Desilusionada - 2012-08-22 13:24

@chez.kri ET did not force him to work there. In fact the mind boggles that such a purported racist can run a farm successfully if he was such a monster. This the man who was supposed to have been killed instantly when he was in jail? Surely people not only protest when asked by the ANCYL et al, why did they not boikot him? He was not capable of running the farm by himself now was he? Mahlangu could have gone to school, where he was supposed to have been....

      chez.kri - 2012-08-22 16:02

@Desil....How easy it must be to go through life with the blinkers so firmly in place. To have enough money not to have to walk to a school under a tree. Not to have to take whatever work you can get. Not to have been born and raised on a farm belonging to a racist white man - the only home you and your parents have ever known. Oh to be you - NOT

      Desilusionada - 2012-08-22 16:29

@@chez.kri Yeah right says you who went to a school not even in South Africa and brought up living the privileged, spoiled, soft, liberal life thinking that all white South African people lives(d) the life of the rich and all blacks are poor. The blinkers referred to by you must be have been part of your anatomy when being born. For your info, I WALKED more miles to a school than you ever ran in your well appointed gym, I have taken jobs at great costs to myself (health, wealth and happiness) to feed my family unlike you who had all these nice little holiday jobs and I know more about, and have experienced until now, racism than you can ever comprehend. How thick was your security file during the apartheid times????? As for my race............

      Blipsie - 2012-08-23 10:04

@ Chez Kri, have you ever for a minute thought that his now big mouthed mother is more to blame for where her son was than anyone else? What about social services? I as a farmer, sometimes have a starved looking young man in front of me whose ID doesnt even have a specific birth date on it. He says he is eighteen, he looks of age and he seems desperate to work. I might not even have an open position or open quarters for him to live in and I at times cant really afford to employ him. But then I look at him and I feel sorry for him and I try to help him. From what I have heard this is what happened with this same youngster. I will be very sure never ever to employ anyone just because I feel I want to help them. I will from now turn them away, to continue sleeping on the street. Better solution for you?

Maybe your standard excuse of blaming everything on race is wearing a bit thin now. Try aliens or Sangomas - that seems to be a popular excuse at the moment - eg. "A Martian Alien killed Whitney Houston" or "My iPad from Venus makes me stupid"

ET was not a rock. He was a cancer on the political landscape. A backward, hateful and racist bigot. He was an awful horse-rider. He was all these things, but he was not a rock, except to maybe the most drooling mouthbreathers of white Afrikaans racist South Africans. He didn't deserve to die for it, but let's not paint this stain as some kind of hero now that he's dead.

Think of the emotions Malema provoked in you when he spoke .... well these are the VERY SAME emotions ET provoked in blacks every time he opened his trap. I'm soooo glad this chapter is finally over in SA history and maybe he (his legacy) will slowly fade away. Same with Malema. One black racist. One white racist. Forgotten forever! If ET was your rock/idol then I feel very very sorry for you.

      chez.kri - 2012-08-22 16:05

@Stuart. As much as I agree with all you say; sadly he was good at something. He was actually an excellent horse-rider. Yes he fell off but that was because the horse got scared and lost the plot. No I am not a fan of his in any way at all but facts are facts.

The sentence is ridiculous for a self-confessed racist murderer, he killed in his time and he was never charged for murder nor served a life sentence. ET continued to disregard the black child by molesting this kids and sleeping with his own domestic worker, what a sick racist he was. Chris must apply for parole and walk free, Chis' story might be contradictory but ET did exploit this young man. A suspended five year sentence could have been the maximum

      stuart.steedman - 2012-08-22 11:30

Do you have any proof - any at all - that he molested kids? Other than what the kid would say to get out of jail? Or are you just masking your racism with drivel?

      rick.kabose - 2012-08-22 11:34

Peter - A racist would rather turn gay with his own kin before even sleeping with a woman of another race. Hopefully the youngster also has aids and doesn't cost the taxpayer in the long run

Who did he kill? Can you give me one name of a single person that he ever killed? He assaulted a security guard and a petrol attendant and served his time for it in prison, as Mahlangu must for his crimes. These fairytales of a murderer who sodomised children and now even sleeping with his domestic worker are getting a little ridiculous. Jenny - 2012-08-23 07:50

Possibly he will be able to appeal but my problem with the rape accusation is that ET had just come out of hospital and was recovering in bed. How could he have subdued Mahlangu - he was very weak and much older? Still, perhaps the forensic pathologists have retained blood samples from Terreblanche which can be tested to see if he had AIDS? At least that way, this argument could be proved or disproved once and for all.

IF he was indeed "infected" by ET then surely this can be proved by ET's blood sample still with forensics? Why keep everyone in suspense? Let the truth be told, one way or the other. Without manipulating the system or evidence or interference of human interventions or governments or ministries or any other witnesses. Just the cold hard facts required. If ET were indeed "sick" then he would have gotten meds, while in prison or outside at a doctor or a clinic. All of this should not even really matter, but for the sake of this ( ) constant allegation, some closure is needed. The ( ) is obviously desperate to get out as he is propably being "used" as a bycicle on a daily basis, which might also prove that he could have been infected by one is his I don't know what you call it, but the one for whom he is being a "bitch" or gotton it from a previous "relationship" before ET and before he was arrested. If his statement is true then he will propably be let as some suggests within 5 years or even before.

      Msika - 2012-08-22 12:20

Now this has to be the dumbest comment I read all day long. If it happens that ET's blood is indeed positive, how is that going to prove that it was ET or ET's blood that infected him??? Can people who are HIV positive tell who they got it from?? Come on, think man!! You can do better than this.

      Melt Olckers - 2012-08-22 12:47

Mahlangu did not get HIV from ET, he got it from the 28s

      johnny.coetzee.3 - 2012-08-22 14:15

Well Msika, if ET's blood is negative then at least they can proof that he did not get HIV from ET. Mahlangu said that he got HIV from ET when he got raped by ET. If ET's blood is negative it doesnt matter where he (Mahlangu) got infected from, but it only proofs that Mahlangu is a blatant lier !!!

some comments here defy logic. Terre'blanche was not a good person by any reasonable mans book, and yes he went to jail and served his time, yet he was murdered. Some postings suggest his murderer, because he is black and ET white should walk, ergo if the Sunday rapist somehow gets a light sentence or heaven forbid walks free and is subsequently murdered by a white man then surely the same logic must prevail. Murder is murder but it seems that some here believe that different rules should apply if you are black. Thank God that the justice system does not operate like that. Also it is quite remarkable what some commentators here are prone to believe without any substantiated proof provided. Duuuh

      oamis.lacadariedlac - 2012-08-22 12:42

No, he assaulted a petrol attendant........get your facts straight before making FALSE comments.....He was no angel, but like the rest of the criminal population, the constitution granted him the right to life.

      arm.witmens - 2012-08-22 13:13

Really? When did this happen? When you were high on tik or when you sniffed your fathers glue?

      Msika - 2012-08-22 13:17

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-08-22 13:35

He was never sentenced for any murders.

      arm.witmens - 2012-08-22 13:36

Thanks, I missed that one. You must just remember that Afrikaans is my first language and you better be grateful that I try to communicate in a language not my own.

      Erna - 2012-08-22 13:45

Once again, where do you guys get your information from?

      fanievanvuuren.heynz - 2012-08-23 08:27

yes thats right thats how we roll in SA

  • tshivhombelaf - 2012-08-22 12:36

Death does not have colour and the colour of blood is the same. Whoever commits murder must be proven guilty in court. Murder is murder and let's not drag race to this

  • oamis.lacadariedlac - 2012-08-22 12:37

He's HIV positive, hence free ARV's in prison for life,at the taxpayers expense AND no need to wait in line like law abiding citizens..............

  • Gavin - 2012-08-22 12:38

murder is murder - it's not up to you and I to rid the world of monsters. but then again, with an impotent government like we have, and the rest of the world has, evil will be allowed to prosper as good men are sitting idle.

  • nghamula.mdunwazi - 2012-08-22 12:46

He got a life sentence because hi killed that devil, how many of these so called white got a life sentence when they kill our african people unnecessary?

      arm.witmens - 2012-08-22 13:10

I don't know. Why don't you tell me?

      Giyangethambo - 2012-08-22 13:36

one boer in vryheid got 10 years for killing a farm worker and he was out after 5 years. judge for your self.

      natalie.schoeman - 2012-08-22 13:49

So called white(s)? What other colour are we? This is ridiculous!! You're going on because a black man is going to prison (Where he will receive food, get excersise and may even get a degree while studying for "free") He killed someone!! Regardless of the colour of his skin. What if this had been your parent, child or friend that had been brutally murdered? Would you think s/he would deserve the sentence any less if s/he had been black? And the fact that you said "Unnecessary" just proves further more that you realise that this was an unnecessary crime. NO ONE DESERVES TO BE KILLED. This is why we have a justice system (however crooked) in place. He may not even serve half his sentence... Heck... He'll probably be out in a year or two, but whether he serves 5 years or 50, he deserves to go to jail for brutally murdering a person... and any white person that kills any other colour person in that matter... deserves to go to jail too!!

      nghamula.mdunwazi - 2012-08-22 14:29

Other colour?I mean europeans or reds

      Msika - 2012-08-22 15:24

Lmao! You guys can write some crap sometimes. I like it though, you keeps me entertained, it's like watching a group of kids playing.

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-08-23 13:10

Reds? Is that not the "Old" Communists or Chinese or Queensland? I think I will stick to chear for the Pink Bulls and Blues.

  • tim.hadebe.5 - 2012-08-22 12:53

when a black man kills a white man its a crime, but when a white man kills a black man it culpable homicide.

      Warren Mudge - 2012-08-22 13:12

Last time I looked, culpable homicide was still classified as a crime. Now I understand why you guys rob, maim, rape etc. IT IS NOT A CRIME. Only when a black kills it is a crime. The ignorance and logic beggars belief.

      arm.witmens - 2012-08-22 13:12

Dis darem lekker om wit te wees!

      piet.pompies.9028 - 2012-08-23 12:12

You are actually really stupid cause that is not true!!! Almost 4000 farmers are tortured, and brutally murdered, And we are brainwashed to look away?! WTF and what do they do? Absolutely NOTHING WHY CAUSE IT WAS A BLACK THAT DID IT!!!!

  • joyce.beeton - 2012-08-22 12:54

The best news I have heard today!! Irrespective of whether Mahlangu was Black or White, he committed a heinous crime and deserves the punishment handed down to him. We must stop looking at "race" when crimes are committed. Violent crimes are ruining this country and perpetrators need to be held accountable. I NEVER look at the colour of any person who has broken the law. I look at their BEHAVIOUR. And it is their actions that must be judged. The Judges who preside over serious crimes of this nature are so astute that they are able to sift through all the evidence that is presented before them and sift through what is the truth and what is not. Mahlangu, above everything else, was also a liar. I do not believe for one second that Terre'blanche molested him, nor do I believe that he had HIV. Time will tell this .......

  • bongiwe.sethole - 2012-08-22 12:58

    bad news!!

  • mosidielizabeth.makanyane - 2012-08-22 13:08

This is rather sad though...He gave him HIV and now he rots in jail, this is too much for my consumption right now...Well Im sure Ter is happy where ever he is,another black man down, even in death! mxm...

      Erna - 2012-08-22 13:48

Why do you believe Mahlangu? Because it suits you? What are the chances of ET giving Mahlangu HIV? Not impossible no, but not likely!

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-08-22 14:05

He had too many wife's that is why he has the virus.

  • eyesears.handsfeet - 2012-08-22 13:14

@msika.gama 5 Now this has to be the dumbest comment (thanks for the compliment) I read all day long. If it happens that ET's blood is indeed positive, how is that going to prove that it was ET or ET's blood that infected him??? Well he said so, then it means that ET must have been "sick" and he needs it to be proven. Can people who are HIV positive tell who they got it from?? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They should know who they "sleep" with. Come on, think man!! I am, that's why I am saying what I said. You obviously did not read my comment properly. I suggest you start reading again and advise your pal ( ) to stop talking noncense then if you feel so strongly about it! Just funny he can claim something like that but I have not seen any reports or indications of ET "infecting" any other prisoners while in prison, where he might have gotton it or outside. If ET were so "loose" then more than one person should have it, maybe even his wife? The ( ) is trying to soften his sentence by spreading more lies, so let's give him the benefit of the doubt or shut him up! Period!

  • sue.moll - 2012-08-22 13:15

In the end God will be the supreme Judge!

  • Giyangethambo - 2012-08-22 13:23

The sentence is too harsh, we all know ET was a violent man, an ex-convict and a vile racist. the justice system still favors white people and the rich.

      fanievanvuuren.heynz - 2012-08-23 08:31

And what was Mandela???? also an ex-convict and he was our president the system favours black people and just look at what state our country is in because people who think they know how to run it doesn't know anything at all SA was a great place before 1994

  • hanlievdberg - 2012-08-22 13:44

Dis wonderlike nuus!!! Die wit boere word so uotgemoor en daar word nix aan gedoen nie!! Dis sommer regverdigheid vir al die ander vermoorde wit gesinne!!! Mahg hy in die tronk verrot!!!

  • gavin.vonmeyer - 2012-08-22 13:48

Terblanche was also a killer. He hit an innocent man to a retarded state and did not even sit in jail for long. This is unjust, by eliminating a man who tried to rob an entire African Country (Bophuthatswana) in recent times. In other words a national threat - a terrorist, this guy should be set free.

      fanievanvuuren.heynz - 2012-08-23 08:32

hitting him into a state of a carrot does not make him a killer that dude is still alive not dead

  • Theuns Konig - 2012-08-22 13:57

hy moes die doodstraf gekry het!! maar ja life in jail helps.. have a nice day chris
