They wanted to destroy Terre'Blanche - cop

2011-10-18 16:35

Ventersdorp - The two people accused of killing AWB leader Eugene Terre’Blanche went all out to destroy him, a policeman said on Tuesday.

"Hulle het uitgegaan daarop om hom te vermink [They went there with the intention to destroy his face]," Captain Jacobus Rautenbach told the High Court sitting in Ventersdorp.

"Hulle wou hom uitwis [They wanted to destroy him]."

Andre Nienaber, Terre'Blanche's brother's son-in-law said outside the court he believed the crime was politically motivated, and linked it to the singing of the "shoot the boer" song by ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema. The song has since been outlawed.

"He [Malema] was in Zimbabwe when the murder took place, but he sang the song and gave the orders... on what to do. He was advertising it in the media," said Rautenbach.

Farmworker Chris Mahlangu and a minor are accused of beating and hacking the 69-year-old to death in his North West farmhouse in April last year.

Both have pleaded not guilty to murder, housebreaking and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Mahlangu claims he acted in self-defence while the 16-year-old denies involvement in the murder.

*According to the Sapa report, Rautenbach said he believed Eugene Terre'Blanche's murder was politically motivated, and linked it to the singing of the "shoot the boer" song by ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema.

We have since learned that the remark was, in fact, made by Terre'Blanche's brother's son-in-law Andre Nienaber outside the court.

@ George. You again? Don't you want to leave these blogs to individuals that appear to intellect? Please

      msendi - 2011-10-18 18:32

You can write and write and write Jason, but you are playing in their own playground where they always prove your views right. Don't worry about thumbs down, those who have a heart knows that what you are saying is true. But I don't believe that we will have to spend the next hundred years blaming the past for our misfortunes. We have a power to build brighter future, lets make use of it. Tears never put food on the table…

And what qualifications do this police officer have for saying that it was as a result of the singing of the "song"? Surely that is just a personal opinion and very unprofessional coming from a police officer...

      Theresa - 2011-10-18 17:05

I applaud him for having the guts to publicly say what a lot of us have been thinking.

      Juan - 2011-10-18 17:17

Well the court will rule on the facts of the case, no more, no less. The policeman is entitled to his opinion just like the rest of us.

A disgrace to the 'voorttrekker' heritage, to be caught with his pants down...but let justice prevail for these murderers who killed him in this dishonourable manner.

      Terrence - 2011-10-18 18:45

A disgrace & dishonorable manner? Don't label when we don't have the facts!

      blipsie - 2011-10-20 10:46

Hi Cheryl, I reckon a man may do as he wishes in his own home when going for a nap. People with larger stomachs do unbutton when lying down. There are a lot of off and fishy things about this whole thing. The Carte Blanche interview especially cast a whole different light on the story!

      Hennie - 2011-10-18 19:12

I agree, Justice should be revealed in our Courts and not through individual's acts of stupidity, and evil thoughts.I wonder what is the age of so called Ricardo and if he realizes that there is more innocent, hard working and honest white people out there than what he thinks? The Majority of so called underprivileged that lived in the so called apartheid era would give anything for a government with at least a Christian foundation like in the apartheid era. I am not saying things were done perfectly but at least the Country were in a better state!

A bad man, who did bad things got murdered. Ya ryt....Really, there is no justice in this world!!! Lets not forget what a saint we have been robbed of, how he wanted to change the world for the better, and all the lives he changed with all the good he did.... Lets not forget that to... People get murdered everyday, get over it... He was no more special than all the people he was responsible for murdering... Its true what they say, " what you do unto others will be done unto you"

      Mbulelo - 2012-02-01 09:24
