Johannesburg - Three men have been arrested in separate incidents for the possession of drugs at the Golela border post between South Africa and Swaziland.

KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday that all the arrests occurred over the course of Tuesday.

Spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said the first arrest was around 11:45, where a stop-and-search led to the discovery of a secret compartment in the man's luggage.

"This compartment consisted of cocaine weighing 2.576kg, with the estimated value of R800 000."

The man had come from Mozambique prior to entering Swaziland.

"Later at about 16:00, a driver of a tanker truck [a Swazi national] was arrested for possession of dagga, with the estimated street value of R5 530, weighing about 3.95kg," Zwane said.

"During the last operation which took place at about 22:00, another Swazi national was arrested for possession of dagga valued at about R8 139, weighing about 5,814kg."

The three men were expected to appear in the Pongola Magistrate's Court soon.
