Tik found in truck that killed teacher

2012-09-14 08:36

Cape Town - Police have arrested the truck driver who drove into and killed a 25-year-old schoolteacher after tik was found on his clothes and a tik lolly was found in his truck.

Die Burger reported that Willem Badenhorst, 43, was charged with the illegal possession of drugs on top of the charge of culpable homicide.

Thelana Kotze, 25, died after her car was flattened by Badenhorst’s truck on the N2 at Sir Lowry’s Pass.

She was on her way to work at Somerstrand College in Gordon’s Bay when the truck’s brakes allegedly failed and the driver didn’t stop at the red light, crashing into Kotze’s car, killing her instantly.

Kotze’s family was devastated by the news that she had been killed.

Her mother, Therina Kotze, said losing a child was the worst thing that could happen to a parent.

Tik destroys your face and your brain. You lose your teeth. You develop heart problems.

Well who cares about the freakin tik user!! No-one forces them to take the stuff!! I think this freak should be shot, locked up for life is way to soft a sentence for what he's done! My condolences to the family and friends for this absolutely tragic and unneccesary loss of life!

This is proof that drugs not only kills the user, but is dangerous and deadly to the whole community.

Point taken, so its time to take Alcohol and Cigarettes out of the system... its amazing that the drugs that was created by the Government themselves, kill more people than any other...

What a tragic result. I wish I can explain to all how decent parents the departed had. The family went through so many tragedies in their life time and now this. I would rather not venture into this. Thelana's late grandfather was my biology teacher and deputy principle. Her late dad and mom grow up with me in the same small town, Garies. Outstanding, down to earth and good people. When one grow up one never know what the future holds, but that it put one family, in particular the mother Therina, through so many hart sore in a life time is unthinkable. All can say to you Therina is that we mourn with you. We fold our arms around you and your family in thoughts. We love you and you will always be one of us. Let Thelana's love and memories stay with you for ever, but let the happening not get you down. You are standing so strong your whole life for us as an example and we pray that you will continue doing it. All I can think of giving you now is my favorite Bible chapter. Jesaja 43. Our deepest sympathy.

what's up with the photo? looks like dirty dishes, not drugs

This driver must be charged with murder, the crime must be treated the same as if he had used a weapon to kill that poor teacher, and by the way, Truck brakes do not "fail" they come on automatically if the air supply to them failed,so he was obviously coming down the pass in too high a gear and riding the brakes, then they overheat and can't grip the brake drums any more, a deliberate action regardless of wether he was on drugs or not, being tired is no excuse, I have driven big trucks years ago and if you phoned your base and told them you were very tired, all Companies, without exception, would tell you to "trek af" and sleep for a couple of hours.

This road is known for the truck/bus drivers that speed through red lights. I use the road daily and there is never a police officer to be seen. How many more must die here before action is taken against the murderers behind these killing machines? I hope the driver is presecuted to the full extent of the law. He may as well ahve held a gun to Thelana's head!

I suppose the driver will get a smack on the hand and a suspended sentence. No wonder these criminals go out and do exactly the same thing over and over again; the justice system treats them better than they do the families of the bereaved!!!!!
