Top Mpumalanga cop dismissed over fraud

2011-12-03 08:09

Johannesburg - Police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi said on Friday that a senior Mpumalanga police officer had been dismissed for making false kilometre claims.

Hlathi said on Friday that an internal disciplinary committee found Brigadier Vusi Mdakane, 52, guilty and sacked him on Thursday.

Mdakane had been the Mbombela cluster commander at the time of his dismissal.

He had been in the police service for 26 years.

Mdakane had been arrested in August and charged with fraud.

"He claimed to have used his subsidised car to investigate cases in Komatipoort, but the cases had actually been finalised in 2008," Hlathi said.

Mdakane has since been released on R1 000 bail by the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court and the matter was postponed to January 10 next year.

I wish they can arrest those SAPS officers in Long Street who make their regular rounds to pick up their share of the "protection money/hush hush money" from the drug dealers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these dudes get medical, pension, a good salary for his rank, etc, and still they steal? Eish, why can't people WORK for what they want? I have basically lost everything during this economic crunch, but by sheer hard work and clever thinking, I can retire in the next 10 years, investing my money to work for ME, and buy my Porsche GT3 RS without worries in the next 2 years.....

      miyo27 - 2011-12-03 09:56

you going to get a Porsche GT3 RS?? gee I think you having a brain crunch too

  • braamc - 2011-12-03 09:15

This entire police and metro force so rotten, f*cking filth of the earth

  • Roy - 2011-12-03 09:32

Another corrupt "cop" bites the dust or will he be transfered to another police station. Would seem that the police force consists of only 5% honest cops and the rest join to make easy money by being crooks.

Nothing surprises me in this country - from your MP's to top cops, to Municipal officials - they are all corupt and sick.....they need to be replaced - the whole goverment must be replaced - when will the world see this...

      Dave - 2011-12-03 10:18

The world does see this, but it was world oppinion that put them there and don't hold your breath waiting for the rest of the countries to admit or acknowladge what is going on here; its not going to happen.

Let's look at the facts now: 1) JZ appoints the top crooked cop; 2) Top cop uses golden handshakes to promote pals; 3) Promoted pals are going to jail I feel very sure that the NEC now have sufficient proof that JZ can be charged with bringing the ANC into disrepute. Wonder why they are not going for it? Is it that JZ hold the keys to the cupboard with all the skeletons in it?
