Top Tshwane official suspended

Pretoria - Another senior Tshwane official has been suspended for three months while investigations into his conduct are underway, the Pretoria News reported on Monday.

Mapiti Matsena, a strategic executive in the office of the Speaker, was suspended on Friday and the official announcement was expected on Monday, according to the report.

Mayoral spokesperson Pieter de Necker confirmed to the publication that Matsena, who was also the ANC's Tshwane deputy regional chairperson, had been suspended on full pay following several allegations.

De Necker declined to explain the allegations.

In October last year, Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa placed deputy metro police chief Ndumiso Jaca on special leave amid allegations he used the same number plate for his motorbike and car.

The three-month special leave had since been extended.

"There has been a minor delay to the conclusion of the investigation due to new evidence which had to be considered," De Necker said in a statement earlier this month.

I would love to know in which other country they allow politicians to go on PAID suspension. This must be the only country where it happens. Even in other African countries they imprison any politician found guilty of misconduct, in RSA it is a required on your CV. RSA is also the quickest African country to get into a state where the electricity supply, water supply and basic services are almost non-existant. It took 18 years, most other "colonised" states took 40 - 60 years. Doesn't our government just rock? Viva ANC viva

Where is Tshwane. Easy. It is a little hill South-West of Pretoria , West of Voortrekkerhoogte Military area. In Afrikaans it is called Swartkops. It is near the raceway.

First question: What does a strategic executive in the office of the Speaker do, if anything? Second question: How much does this position pay? In years gone by, if one did wrong, one had a hearing, and if found guilty, was punished accordingly. Now you get a free paid for holiday. Deputy metro police chief Ndumiso Jaca is still on special leave after three months, and this leave has been extended. How long does it take to investigate that wrong doing? But I suppose seeing the idiots are investigating the so-called crime, they will need a year or so to finalise it! What a joke this place has become.

      Since when? Post

  • Hermann - 2012-01-30 13:44

Lekker! What a way to enjoy full pay.

  • Shirley - 2012-01-30 13:54

The anc stands for ALWAYS NEED CASH-therefore cannot be suspended without pay-that is not anc policy! All officials are to be bankrolled at all times-even when caught being naughty, under NO circumstances must there be a shortfall in their lifestyle. This is an oath to be taken very seiously when going into office.

      StarStruck - 2012-01-30 14:05

You are right. What baffles me is that the ANC can and probably MUST!! Stop the suspension with full pay. Instead they can investigate whatever allegation comes forth and once they have enough proof for a suspension then go ahead and suspend the bastard without pay. I certainly believe that the first example will send a ripple effect to all the other crooked ANC members. The ANC keeps saying that there is corruption but they fail to do anything substantial about the situation. They will sink South Africa!!

I really ask yself everytime, why a Govt or Municipal suspend their staff for a year whereas in Private sector, I am used to a month or two month the if it they have the right Investigation personnel's?...look at Madonsela, her team investigate and release report within the month time frame...I wonder where our RSA is heading...take a wild guess.
