Cape Town - Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer and five others appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of corruption.

News24’s Lauren Hess was on the scene reporting from Goodwood Court B.

The six face 109 counts, including corruption, fraud, money laundering and defeating the ends of justice.

Included in the six were Lamoer, three senior cops, businessman Mohamed Salim Dawjee and his son Zameer, EWN tweeted.

Bail of R5000 was granted on Friday. A high court date has been set to June 12.

Members of the Western Cape police made appearances in the public gallery, including Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi and alleged whistleblower, Goodwood Commander Hansia Hansraj.

Journalists waited patiently outside the Goodwood police station, which is next to the Goodwood courthouse, to catch a glimpse of the accused before their court appearance.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s Billy Downer is set to prosecute.
