Johannesburg - A newspaper for Western Cape townships will be launched at the end of September, it was announced on Thursday.

"Kasi Vision, a new Media24 and Boland Media title that targets previously unserved townships of the Western Cape, is being launched at the end of September. It will be published every fortnight on a Friday," said spokesperson Daya Coetzee.

Kasi Vision will initially be published in three editions with a combined distribution of 25 000.

The publication will be distributed in Lwandle, Nomzamo, Kayamandi, Zweletemba, Mbekweni, and Zwelihle.

Kasi Vision publisher Annelien Dean said the paper would create a space for voiceless communities to talk to each other.

"The entire project is extremely exciting because it highlights the powerful, and relevant, role that print media can play," she said.

Tania Barzu, marketing and strategy head at Ads24, said advertisers would have the opportunity to target communities that were yet unreached by local newspapers.

"There are some exciting options available and the reach of this title is set to grow vastly in the next few years," she said.
