Cape Town - There has been a major traffic accident in the City of Cape Town, involving 10 vehicles, a truck and a minibus taxi.

A spokesperson for Cape Town Rescue Services said that there were no serious injuries. He said that two male adults were in yellow condition (injured), and that a female adult and 7 male adults were slightly injured.

No one was trapped in their vehicles, although the rescue services did use the jaws of life to pry open the boot of one of the vehicles. What was inside the boot, is unknown.

The pile-up happened on the corner of Adderley and Strand streets. Part of the street was blocked off for rescue workers, ambulances and tow trucks to work in the area. The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

Traffic was diverted to allow the rescue services and paramedics to do their work unhindered.
