Trio in court for 'Guptagate'

2013-09-13 08:07

Johannesburg - Three people charged with the controversial landing of a charter flight for the Gupta family will appear in the Military Court in Pretoria on Friday.

They face charges of misuse of state property and making false statements under oath.

A chartered commercial aircraft transporting guests of the Gupta family landed at the Waterkloof Air Force Base on 30 April this year.

They had arrived for a family wedding at the Sun City resort, sparking widespread concern over the use of the military facility for a private function.

Is the minister of defence included in that trio, if not, there is no need to do anything.

      June Francis - 2013-09-13 08:26

True - Are the Gupta's ( on grounds of bribery & Corruption) in court today ? There are no grounds to prosecute anyone else. It takes one party to pay a bribe and another to accept the bribe. Both are equally guilty.

      Revelgen - 2013-09-13 09:04

Yep, the real guy in court should be Zuma. The whole country knows that tthe Guptas have bought him, and he will allow anything they want. Oh, for a government I can actually RESPECT!

      Payricia Bull - 2013-09-13 12:56

........ and the outcome will be declared a state secret!

  • Dinny Mills - 2013-09-13 08:22

The problem with South Africa today is that we are willing to kill all institutions for the comfort of one man.

      Ann Murray - 2013-09-13 11:00

@ Dinny - I never looked at it in that particular way before, but I think you may have a very good point.

  • Victor Loftie-Eaton - 2013-09-13 08:27

Some small time oke is going to take the fall for the big shots that authorised this - nothing new...

  • Hein Huyser - 2013-09-13 08:29

Me thinks they know that the Guptas see South Africa as their personal fiefdom because they have no.1 in the pocket, but their brief is to ensure the blame is shifted onto the poor lackeys that are used to jump when the corrupt cohorts say so. Now that the corrupted is being exposed again they want to use this forum to shift the blame. Pathetic, and JZ wonders why the country is caught up in crime wave after crime wave. It's time they get some

      Vaal Koos - 2013-09-13 09:21

Shut up.Don`t talk about it. Do like the Mexicans do.You can do much more crime if nobody knows about it.Zumagaan said so.

  • Sheilan Clarke - 2013-09-13 08:30

The fall guys, the patsies to take the rap for the higher ups who gave the orders. All done so that the public may see that this wonderful country is free from all corruption and that all its great leaders are squeaky clean. Nice try, I don't swallow it.

These people were paid large sums of money by Gupta/Zuma to take the fall. The whole saga MUST be investigated by Tuli Madonsela and the real culprits exposes.

  • Payricia Bull - 2013-09-13 10:16

Disciplinary hearings are a great way to fill those boring office hours and make us dumb taxpayers believe that you're actually justifying your appointments ! .... (Not to mention all the free lunches and overtime)
