Johannesburg - Two people were injured on Wednesday when their truck crashed into a house in Weltevredenpark, Johannesburg, paramedics said.

The vehicle veered into a corporate parking lot before hitting a wall, then the house's kitchen, said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

"Paramedics found two people trapped inside the truck and the fire and rescue services had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free them," he said.

A man believed to be in his late 40s and another in his early 30s were freed from the wreckage and rushed to a nearby clinic.

Witnesses told police the truck was travelling down the hill on Golf Club Terrace before it crashed into the property. The cause of this accident was being investigated.

Johannesburg emergency services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said emergency workers were stabilising the home's wall, which had collapsed.
