2012-06-20 12:45

Johannesburg - An ambulance belonging to the City of Tshwane municipality was hijacked in Pretoria West, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

Two ambulance assistants were hijacked at gunpoint by two unidentified men at the corner of DF Malan Road and Soutter Street on Tuesday night, said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Wanda Olivier.

"They were forced out of a white Toyota Quantum at gunpoint and the hijackers drove off with the vehicle," she said.

Olivier said nobody was injured during the hijacking and the assistants immediately reported the case.

"We are investigating a case of hijacking and ask the community to help with information," said Olivier.

The ambulance was branded "Integrated community development" on both front doors.

Information on its whereabouts can be SMSed to 32211, or contact Sergeant Janie Swart on 079 895 0667.

We live amongst so many sociopaths. This is beyond sick!

      Bardy - 2012-06-20 13:14

That ambulance will be a taxi soon...

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 13:15

That is the same ambulance that was used in the china/nigerian story!!!

      Oom - 2012-06-20 13:22

    senseless crime

      Kala - 2012-06-20 13:10

      Does any crime make sense?

      Tony Lapson - 2012-06-20 13:20

Depends kala. Would you be a thief to feed your family? Better yet, if you and your children lived in squalid conditions, would you resort to stealing bread and risk jail, or steal something more valuable and risk jail.

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 14:26

By the looks of it, Kala would rather sell herself on street corners. Funny, as that is also a crime!

      mark.singh.9889 - 2012-06-20 14:59

Dont know why all the thumbs down for Tony. He asks valid questions. Someimes desperation causes people to commit petty theft to feed their family.

      Kala - 2012-06-20 15:51

      @philemon - by what looks?

  • Kala - 2012-06-20 13:10

Hopefully these idiots will be injured in the not to distant future and will die as a result of their injuries as there was no ambulance available.

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 14:22

Do you go to church on Sundays (or at all)?

      Kala - 2012-06-20 16:00

@Philiemon - Never. Now stop trolling.

  • Peter - 2012-06-20 13:15

They probably wanted for the drugs so they could sell them and kill somebody that could be saved if there was an over dose. So not only do they steal somebodies life saver, they commit murder and prevent somebody else from being "looked after". Stupid brainless rats.

  • snoopy.snoopaloop - 2012-06-20 13:16

      Irene - 2012-06-20 13:24

      They do already.

      Rob - 2012-06-20 13:28

      Irene - 2012-06-20 13:50

@Rob ~ Did my avatar give it away?

      Rob - 2012-06-20 13:56

In a way yes ! Style of comment too, although a bit " toned down " from TL days......Boffinbob !

      Irene - 2012-06-20 14:02

LOL! I hadn't noticed that. Maybe it's because Veg and ShoeLace aren't around.

      Rob - 2012-06-20 14:40

@ Irene. Lol...I am sure they are, just under another name. Sunday afternoons with Veggie & Shoelace. Great way to end a weekend.

      Rob - 2012-06-20 15:38

@ beefcake. Ah I see Shoelace has just resurfeced ;-)

  • Rob - 2012-06-20 13:19

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 14:24

      Please share your insight.

      Christian J Denyschen - 2012-06-20 14:36

Philemon by replying to Robs comment it implies you thought the same.

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 14:42

      Christian, I implied nothing! Idiot!

      Christian J Denyschen - 2012-06-20 15:00

Philemon if you cant comprehend what I meant don't call me the idiot, who do you think Rob was talking about if your answer is blacks you thought a long the same racial lines as he did you might not agree with him but that's a different argument. its your own ppl who gives you such a bad name when ppl generalize criminals. Rob i have to add that is not nice to generalize ppl.

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 15:30

Christian, if so easy, then why not just state the obvious? Racist? Chicken??

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-06-20 16:07

I think you guys can be wrong when labeling a certain group in this incident. PTA West is not a joke and I know of more "groups" that are involve in "funny" things in the area. If labeling a group due to population advantage it is possible.

This is the main reason Nasa called an end to its Space Shuttle program. They realized BONGANI , SIPHO ,KGOMOTSO , JULIUS and JACOB they can hijack anything .

      philemon.ndlovu.5 - 2012-06-20 14:25

If this statement did not sound so stupid, it could actually be funny!

  • wikus.schalkwyk - 2012-06-20 14:12

  • jennalee.myburgh - 2012-06-20 14:37

So my Question is: What is the consequence going to be for the culprits if they get caught? We need harsher sentences - especially when it comes to peopl who serve the country!

  • herman.dewaal1 - 2012-06-20 14:57

and people wonder why ambulances take so long - because our fleet is becoming smaller and smaller... and that costs lives at the end of the day.

  • james.tshuma.9 - 2012-06-20 15:45

this is not good at all

  • Chriskoi1 - 2012-06-20 18:02

Hoekom is daar nie n' Tracker in die bussie nie of daar was seker nie geld om dit tebetaal nie en geen probleme nie want die Assuransies sal mos n' ander een betaal of hoe .

      renier.lubbe.7 - 2012-06-20 22:54

Insurance or not, in a municipal environment it takes ages for such a vehicle to be replaced. One less ambulance to serve the poor. Location equipment (i.e Tracker) is removed in minutes and is no longer a deterrent. (If one could only check the stats of tracked vehicles lost versus tracked vehicles recovered) Something to ponder about: Your tracker is installed, the technician gives you registration number to a syndicate and they obtain your address information via some corrupt official... the rest is obvious.

      FirstSeed - 2012-06-21 15:00

Tracker is useless.Criminals know where it is located, they take few seconds to rip it off and throw it in a bin

  • FirstSeed - 2012-06-21 14:57

@Bardy."That ambulance will be taxi soon..." Obvious it is already repainted. It is in a taxi rank or on the road as I write this message.
