Two arrested for robbing KZN paramedics

Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested for robbing two paramedics treating a pregnant woman at the Bottlebrush informal settlement in Chatsworth, Durban on Sunday, KwaZulu-Natal emergency medical services said.

The paramedics had treated the woman and loaded her into an ambulance when they were approached by the two men, one of them with a gun, spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said.

"The men demanded valuables from the paramedics and managed to make off with a cellphone belonging to one of the paramedics.

No one was hurt.

A second ambulance was called to transport the woman to hospital.

"The police working with members of the community managed to apprehend and detain the two suspected robbers and even managed to recover the cellphone, with in a short amount of time," said Mckenzie.
