Johannesburg – Two people were killed and 11 injured in two head-on collisions in the Free State on Friday, paramedics said.
A truck and a car collided on the R26, about 18km outside Ficksburg, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
The car was found lying on its roof, and a man next to it. He had already died. A critically injured woman died on the way to hospital. Five people sustained minor injuries.
In the second accident, six people, including a grandmother and her three-month-old grandchild, were injured in a head-on crash on the N3, about 10km from Warden around 16:30, Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Both said.
The elderly woman was critically injured. The baby and four other people were in a serious condition.
