Johannesburg - Two people died and two others were injured in separate accidents in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend, paramedics said on Monday.

The first accident occurred on Sunday evening around 19:00 on the N2 near the Umkomaas turn-off, ER24 said.

A car had rolled from one side of the road to the other. The woman driver, believed to be in her 30s, suffered severe injuries and was declared dead on the scene.

The second accident occurred around 22:00 on Sunday, when a minibus taxi and a truck collided on the R603 in Illovo.

"In the taxi had been the driver and a single passenger, and when paramedics arrived on scene they found that the passenger had already succumbed to his injuries..." ER24 said.

"The driver of the truck and the driver of the taxi suffered moderate injuries and both of them were taken to hospitals in the vicinity by ambulance."

The causes of the accidents were unknown and police were investigating.
